Today the PreKinder team began their group time by asking the children a simple question, “Have you ever posted a letter?”

To which most of them replied “ Yes. “

From there they discussed when and where have they posted letters?, who do they want to write letter to? and would they like to post a letter today? They all sounded excited. So to extend their learning during group time the team set up a letter writing station, and an envelope decorating station and finally a post office( where they could stamp their envelops and post them) .

The children gathered around these experiences, waited for their turns and understood the chain of sequence for writing and posting a letter.

Wow, what a great start to Spring! 🌸🐝

Today, our Kinder children had the exciting opportunity to take part in a special beekeeping incursion. The experience provided children with a hands-on introduction to the fascinating world of bees and helped them understand the important role bees play in our environment.

The children were able to explore a real beehive and learn about how bees work together to create and protect their hive. One of the highlights was searching for and finding the queen bee! The children were fascinated to discover how the queen looks different from the other bees and learn about her important role within the colony.

The children also had the opportunity to try on protective beekeeping clothing, including the beekeeper’s hat and veil. This allowed them to experience what it is like to be a beekeeper while learning about the importance of staying safe around bees.

Another favourite part of the incursion was tasting delicious honey. The children were able to connect the honey they enjoy eating with the work of bees and learn how honey is produced.

This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, confidence, and a sense of wonder. It supported children’s learning about nature, living things, sustainability, and the interconnectedness between people, animals, and the environment.

It also provided opportunities for children to ask questions, share their ideas, and build new knowledge through meaningful, real-life experiences.

This week, the children embraced the opportunity to explore the outdoors and enjoy the wonderful challenge of climbing trees. With excitement and big smiles, they carefully placed their hands and feet, finding sturdy spots to hold onto as they made their way up.

As they climbed, the children challenged themselves to reach a little higher, testing their strength, balance, and coordination. Some children climbed confidently, while others took their time, carefully considering where to place their hands and feet.

There were moments of laughter, excitement, and determination as the children encouraged one another and celebrated their achievements. Each climb provided an opportunity to take on manageable risk, make decisions, solve problems, and develop confidence in one's own abilities.

Most importantly, the children were having fun, connecting with nature, and experiencing the joy of being active, adventurous, and curious in their outdoor environment 🌿💚

Our Commitment to Child Safety 💚

At our Centre, child safety is at the heart of everything we do. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, respected, heard, and empowered to make choices about their own body.

We recognise that every child is different, including how comfortable they are with being welcomed and greeted. Children are given the choice of how they would like to say hello, whether that’s a handshake, high five, wave, fist bump, hug, or simply a smile and hello.

By offering children a choice, we support them in understanding that their bodies belong to them and that they have a voice in how others interact with them. We encourage children to communicate their preferences and respect their choices, including when they do not wish to be touched.

These everyday interactions help build children’s confidence, agency, and understanding of personal boundaries, while creating a safe and respectful environment where every child feels valued and heard.

Through this active experience, the children had opportunities to strengthen their coordination, balance, and gross motor skills in a fun and engaging way.

As they navigated the obstacle course, they demonstrated concentration, body awareness, and growing confidence.

Our children enjoyed caring for our handmade cow by collecting fresh grass and feeding it.

This hands-on experience encouraged imaginative play, curiosity, and an understanding of how to care for animals.

As the children grasped the grass and placed it into the cow’s mouth, they developed their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration.

The experience also provided opportunities for language, communication, social interaction, and problem-solving, while allowing children to connect their play with the natural world.

With Educator support and child-led exploration, the children learned through meaningful, engaging, and purposeful play.

A Spring Day of Hopscotch 🌼

On this beautiful spring day, the children headed outside to enjoy the sunshine, fresh air, and colourful flowers blooming around our outdoor space.

Their excitement grew as they discovered a hopscotch game waiting for them.

One by one, the children took turns hopping, jumping, and balancing their way across the numbers. There were smiles and lots of encouragement as they watched their friends have a turn.

Some children carefully counted each square, while others experimented with different ways to move their bodies through the course.

The children practised their balance, coordination, and number recognition while developing confidence and persistence.

Most importantly, they enjoyed being active together, sharing laughter, and creating happy memories on a beautiful spring day.

It was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm, determination, and joy as they learned through play 💚

🤎 Mud Pit Adventures 🤎

Our mud pit has been a wonderful space for messy, imaginative, and hands-on learning.

The children explored the mud's natural texture, using shovels, buckets, and baking trays to dig, scoop, mix, and create.

Through their play, the children developed fine motor skills, coordination, problem-solving, and social skills as they worked alongside one another and shared ideas.

Their imagination came alive as they transformed the mud into cakes, creations, and delicious-looking treats.

Most importantly, the children were given the freedom to explore, experiment, and get messy, enjoying an unhurried experience where the process was just as important as the end result 🌿
