Toddler Ice Melting Experiment

The children participated in an exciting ice experiment as part of our toddler project. They explored different materials and discovered which ones helped the ice melt faster. The children used their senses to observe, touch and compare the ice as it changed from solid to liquid.

Through this hands-on learning experience, the children developed their curiosity, observation skills and early understanding of scientific concepts such as melting, temperature and change.

The children in the Kinder room created their own human characters using sticks and string. They explored different emotions by giving their characters various facial expressions and poses to represent feelings such as happy, sad, angry and surprised. This creative experience encouraged children to express and recognise emotions while developing their fine motor skills, creativity and imagination.

The children in Kinder 1 had a fun-filled sensory experience exploring water and cornflour.

They discovered that mixing the two ingredients creates oobleck, a fascinating mixture that can behave like both a solid and a liquid.

Through hands-on exploration, the children squeezed, stirred, touched, and observed the oobleck, developing their curiosity, sensory awareness, and understanding of cause and effect.

Children explored our yard and discovered a variety of bugs and insects.

They used magnifying glasses to observe the tiny creatures closely, discussed their colours, shapes, and movements, and developed curiosity about the natural environment.

This hands-on experience encouraged children to ask questions, investigate, and learn about the important role bugs play in our ecosystem.

This week, the children explored the exciting topic of transportation in the Kinder room.

Through engaging discussions, they learned about different types of transport, including cars, buses, trains, aeroplanes, and boats, and talked about how these vehicles help people travel from one place to another.

To extend their learning, the children participated in a creative art activity.

Educators provided picture examples of different vehicles, and the children carefully observed the images before using paint and sponges to create their own transportation artwork.

This hands-on experience encouraged creativity, fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and concentration.

It also supported children’s ability to follow visual cues, express their ideas through art, and build their understanding of the world around them through meaningful play.

Science Magic in Junior Kindergarten!

Our little scientists were mesmerised today by a swirling experiment using milk, oil, and vibrant food-colouring dots!

With wide eyes and excited giggles, the children watched in awe as the colours danced, spread, and reacted right before their eyes.

This hands-on experience was a fantastic way to explore cause-and-effect, scientific curiosity, and fine motor skills through colour mixing.

Children explored the concept of family by creating their own family collages using a variety of materials, including wool, colourful paper, pencil shavings, and other craft resources.

As they designed their creations, they talked about their family members, shared special memories, and expressed what makes their family unique.

This hands-on experience encouraged children to develop their creativity, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination as they cut, glue, and arrange various materials.

It also supported language development as children described their artwork and engaged in conversations with peers and educators about their families.

The activity nurtured a sense of belonging, identity, and respect for the diversity of family structures, helping children recognise that every family is special in its own way.

Today, the children explored different emotions and feelings by learning about the colours that can represent various emotions.

We discussed feelings such as happiness, sadness, excitement, anger, calmness, and love, and how colours can help us express these emotions in creative ways.

The children were encouraged to draw pictures that reflected how they were feeling. As they shared their artwork, they confidently expressed their emotions and talked about the colours they had chosen and why.

This provided opportunities for meaningful conversations about recognising, understanding, and respecting our own feelings as well as the feelings of others.

Children explored their creativity by using recycled boxes and other recyclable materials to design and build their own imaginative creations.

They worked independently and collaboratively to transform everyday items into unique objects, including a baby car, a smiley robot, and many other creative designs.

Throughout the experience, children demonstrated imagination, problem-solving, and critical thinking as they planned, constructed, and adapted their ideas.

They experimented with different shapes, sizes, and materials, developing their fine motor skills and spatial awareness while learning that recycled materials can be reused in meaningful and creative ways.

The children eagerly participated in a volcano science experiment, combining bicarbonate of soda, vinegar, and food colouring to create an exciting volcanic eruption.

They watched with curiosity as the mixture fizzed and bubbled over, making predictions about what would happen before the eruption.

This hands-on experience encouraged children to explore basic scientific concepts, including cause and effect, chemical reactions, observation, and prediction.

It also supported their language development as they described what they saw using words like fizzy, bubbly, overflowing, and eruption.
