Elevation Secondary College

Yesterday, the Elevation community came together to donate warm clothes and blankets to families in need this winter.

The Big Group Hug donation drive was organised by Year 11 VCE Vocational Major students Arman, Nizar, Imad, Noor, Abo and Rishay as part of their Personal Development Skills coursework.

All donated items are going to not-for-profit organisation Big Group Hug, who will then distribute the items to help support vulnerable and disadvantaged Victorian families.

Towards the end of Term 2 our Year 9 Food Studies students explored cuisines and cultured from around the world, learning how food can reflect traditions, ingredients and ways of life.

As part of their assessment task, students selected a country and transformed a burger or a wrap into a dish inspired by that nation’s flavours, ingredients and cultural influences.

Students displayed an impressive amount of creativity, research and practical skills, creating a range of delicious and culturally inspired creations!

Term 2 saw our various Interschool Sport Soccer teams take to the pitch!

All teams went on to play hard and win various games against their opponents.

Our Intermediate Girls team made it all the way to Finals and our Senior Boys have moved forward through to Regionals which will be taking place in early Term 3.

What a night! Our Year 12 Formal was a blast!

Students and teachers were dressed to the nines and took to the dance floor for a night of celebration.

Congratulations to our Year 12 Formal Committee for organising such a fabulous evening!

Today marks the beginning of our Year 10 Exam period.

Over the next three days students will be tested on their knowledge and understanding of their subjects from this semester.

Today our VCE Unit 3 & 4 students are undertaking the General Achievement Test (G*T).

Good luck to all our students sitting the G*T today!

On Wednesday a group of students from Year 9 and 10 put their science skills put to the test and completed the Australian Junior Science Olympiad exam.

Students were quizzed on their biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, and physics knowledge over the course of the two-hour exam.

Well done to the students involved!

On Monday, our VCE Vocational Major students visited Melbourne Zoo as part of their Personal Development Skill studies.

As part of their visit, students investigated a real-world environmental issue, developing a community conservation project plan in response.

Students have then been able to take this project plan back to school where they will implement, evaluate and reflect forming a part of their Unit 4 outcomes.
