We had the pleasure of welcoming Scott B Harris to Wayi School for our Curriculum Day!

Scott is a keynote speaker, author and educator who draws on his lived experience of traumatic brain injury to promote neurodiversity, resilience and inclusive education.

Our staff appreciated hearing Scott’s powerful story and participating in his neurodiversity workshop, which encouraged us to continue reflecting on how we can adapt our teaching to recognise, support and celebrate the different ways our students think and learn.

Thank you, Scott, for sharing your experiences, knowledge and humour with the Wayi team—we thoroughly enjoyed having you!

Congratulations to Wayi student Tuana who was recently successfully nominated for a City of Hume Youth Opportunity Scholarship.

The scholarship is offered annually to Year 10 students who demonstrate continued effort and progression toward achieving their goals.

Tuana attended the presentation night on Friday the 31st of July. What a proud moment for Tuana, her family and our school. We are so proud!

Families are invited to join us for our upcoming Community Connections Afternoon on Thursday, 20th August (Week 6), commencing at 1:00pm at Wayi School.

The afternoon will begin with our “Latte with Leanne” community connection session, followed by our whole-school assembly, providing families with the opportunity to connect, learn and celebrate together.

“Latte with Leanne” is a relaxed afternoon tea designed to bring our community together. It is a wonderful opportunity for parents, carers and guardians to connect with one another, meet members of our school community, and share conversations about supporting our students.

Our special guest attendees will include Robyn O’Neill, Wayi School’s Assistant Principal, and Charisse Garcia, Wayi School’s Learning Specialist.

During this session, we will explore ways to support your child’s learning, with a focus on:
– Guiding your child’s learning journey
– Helping your child develop their reading skills

Following our discussion, families will join students and staff for our whole-school assembly, where we will celebrate the achievements and successes of our students. The assembly will include:
– School Values Awards
– School-Wide Positive Behaviour Awards
– School Camp Acknowledgements and Scholarship Award Presentations

If you would like to join us, please RSVP using the link sent via Seesaw and Compass

We look forward to welcoming you for an afternoon of connection, learning and celebration as we continue to strengthen our Wayi School community.
