Charlotte is laying the foundations for a future in civil construction ๐ท๐๏ธ
After finishing school, Charlotte knew she wanted a hands-on career but wasn't sure which trade was right for her. Through the Women in Civil Construction program, delivered in partnership with Ballina Shire Council, Complete Staff Solutions and TAFE NSW - Ballina, she gained practical experience in levelling, concreting, construction materials and workplace safety while completing a nationally recognised Certificate II in Civil Construction (RII20720). ๐งฑ๐ง
Coming from a family of tradespeople, Charlotte embraced the opportunity to explore the industry and discover where her passion lies.
โIโve loved learning about how structural foundations are laid and the capabilities of different construction materials,โ said Charlotte.
The program not only gave her valuable skills and industry connections but also the confidence to take the next step: โItโs helped me decide that I want to get my apprenticeship.โ ๐
With Australia facing significant construction workforce shortages and women representing only a small percentage of trade roles, Charlotte is part of a new generation helping to shape a more diverse and skilled workforce.
