Three incredible milestones for three amazing educators! ❤️
A huge congratulations to Maddi, who has completed her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care. This is a massive achievement, especially while working full-time, raising a large family, and managing all that life brings. Your dedication and perseverance are truly inspiring.
Congratulations also to Amy, who is celebrating 10 years with Goodstart! While there were a couple of breaks along the way to welcome her own children, Amy has always returned with the same warmth, positivity, and ability to bring smiles and laughter to those around her.
And finally, congratulations to Shailee, who has already achieved so much in her first year with us. We are so proud to see her recently commence her Diploma, continuing to grow her skills and qualifications as an educator.
We couldn’t be prouder of each of you and all that you have accomplished. Thank you for your passion, commitment, and the difference you make every day. 🌟

📚✨ Open Classroom Night at Goodstart Cowra ✨📚
Tonight, we were delighted to open our doors and welcome families into our classrooms to experience the incredible learning taking place across our centre.
Families enjoyed exploring each of our four learning environments, gaining a deeper understanding of children’s learning journeys and what growth and development can look like as children move through the rooms. From literacy experiences and learning portfolios to creative artworks and hands-on projects, there was so much to discover and celebrate.
The beautiful learning on display sparked wonderful conversations, with families sharing feedback such as:
💛 “All the rooms are homey, calm and not overstimulating.”💛 “It’s all beautifully set out.”💛 “It’s wonderful to see the whole centre.”
These comments reflect the care and thought our educators put into creating welcoming environments that support children’s wellbeing, learning, and sense of belonging.
Thank you to all the families who joined us this evening. We value the opportunity to share your children’s learning and strengthen the partnerships that help every child thrive.
📸 Take a look at some of the amazing learning and creativity showcased throughout the centre, including literacy learning, individual portfolios, and children’s unique artworks that tell the story of their growth and development.

✅ Safeguarding Journey: 100% Complete!

We're excited to celebrate an important milestone. Every one of our educators has completed the new National Child Safety - Foundation Child Safety Training as part of the latest Early Childhood Education and Care reforms.

Child safety is everyone's responsibility, and we are proud to have a team that is committed to ongoing learning and best practice.
To ensure the same high standards for everyone in our learning environment, all practicums and student placements are also required to complete this training before commencing at our centre.

Thank you to our incredible educators for their dedication to creating a safe, respectful and welcoming place where children can learn, grow and thrive. 🌟

There are some days that just fill your cup, and today was definitely one of them. 💛

Our Preschool Room enjoyed a lovely walk to our local retirement village, and the children were so excited knowing they were off to visit the residents.

When we arrived, the children confidently shared our Acknowledgement of Country, our classroom mantra and our Wiradjuri greeting before singing and dancing together. They were so proud of themselves, and it was beautiful to see the smiles on everyone's faces.

After sharing some biscuits and a cold drink, we spent the morning chatting, and getting to know so many of the ladies and men. It was amazing to watch the conversations unfold so naturally. It was a beautiful moment when one of our children noticed that she had the same painted nails as one of our grand friends. This was such a beautiful simple moment of connection that was clearly so meaningful to the both of them.

Watching the children interact with the residents was so heartwarming. There was so much kindness, curiosity and joy in the room, and it was clear that our newly found friends loved the visit just as much as the children did.

Building genuine community connections is something I am so passionate about, and days like today remind me why. Creating opportunities for different generations to spend time together is incredibly special, and the smiles, laughter and memories made today are something we'll all treasure.

We can't wait to visit you all again soon. 💛 Goodstart Cowra Cowra Retirement Village Limited

Toddler Room Concert Fun! 🎵🎤
This week, our Toddler Room children proudly hosted a special concert for all the children and educators across the centre. After spending time practising their favourite songs, they were excited to share their musical talents with an audience.
We gathered together in the playground, where children and educators from across the centre came along to watch, sing, and dance. The toddlers beamed with pride as they performed their songs, and soon everyone was joining in with the music and movement.
It was wonderful to see the children building confidence, expressing themselves through music, and experiencing the joy of performing for others. The concert brought our centre community together and created lots of smiles, laughter, and happy memories for everyone involved! 🎶💛🌟

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

NAIDOC Week 2026 Celebrations
Our NAIDOC Week celebrations began with an invitation from Mulyan School to participate in a traditional Smoking Ceremony, providing children with a meaningful opportunity to engage with and learn from local Aboriginal culture. This was followed by participation in the NAIDOC March down Kendal Street, where our Preschool 2 children proudly joined the wider community in celebrating and recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. These experiences supported children in building strong community connections while deepening their understanding of NAIDOC Week, our local Wiradjuri community, and the ways these perspectives are embedded within our daily practices.
Throughout the week, all rooms engaged in a variety of experiences that celebrated Aboriginal culture, community, and connection. Children participated in story sharing, yarning circles, and collaborated on creating a "Sea of Fish" display. As part of this project, the Toddler Room gifted a fish to each room across the service, fostering a sense of belonging, collaboration, and shared learning.
These experiences reflected the spirit of the NAIDOC 2026 theme, "50 Years of Deadly”by empowering children to become active participants in their community, strengthening leadership skills in our older children while nurturing connection and curiosity in our younger learners. Through sharing knowledge, stories, and cultural experiences across the centre, children developed a deeper appreciation for Aboriginal culture and the importance of carrying this knowledge forward for future generations.
Our journey continues……..
