Real Talk is specifically designed for prospective mature-age students. For many people considering university later in life, the biggest barriers aren't choosing a course. They're balancing study with work and family commitments, understanding the financial commitment, and having the confidence to believe that university is achievable.

That's why Real Talk has been designed differently.

Through authentic conversations with mature-age students and graduates, live Q&A, and practical guidance, the series is designed to:
• Address the questions and hesitation that often come before course selection
• Provide practical, real-world advice from people who have successfully returned to study
• Build confidence and reassurance
• Offer a personalised next step through one-on-one study planning consultations

The series will be delivered across two sessions (with more in the works for early next year), each focusing on a key topic that addresses common barriers faced by people considering university later in life.

What Uni Really Costs – Tuesday 18 August, 6.00pm - 7.00pm
Flexible Study, Real Life – Thursday 27 August, 6.00pm - 7.00pm

Registrations are now LIVE at: https://csu.eventsair.com/real-talk/registration

By registering for these events, you'll also get exclusive access to personalised consults.

❄️ Winter in the Upper Murray can be beautiful, but the cold mornings, persistent fog and damp weather can also make it a little harder to stay motivated.
If you're balancing study alongside work, family and everything else life throws your way, remember to be kind to yourself this winter.
A few simple ways to support your wellbeing:

☕ Keep warm with a hot drink.

💧 Stay hydrated (it's just as important in winter!).

🚶 Take regular movement breaks between study sessions.

🌤️ Make the most of any sunshine by stepping outside for some fresh air.

💙 Remember that rest is productive too—taking regular breaks can help you return to your studies feeling refreshed.
If you need a warm, quiet place to study, reliable internet, printing facilities, or simply a change of scenery, the team at Country Universities Centre Corryong is here to support you.
And if you're continuing your studies this semester, don't forget to complete your re-registration if you haven't already. We'd love to continue supporting you throughout your study journey.
Stay warm, take care, and here's to a successful semester! 📚

Monique Lerchner is our new Education Coordinator at Country Universities Centre – Ovens Murray, based at our Corryong site.

Monique already has a strong connection with our centre through her own study journey. She is currently completing a Certificate III in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles through TAFE NSW and a Diploma of Sustainable Living through the University of Tasmania. Throughout her studies, she has accessed support through the local study hub facilities and Local Skills Advisor services provided by Celeste Oliver.

“My experience accessing CUC – Ovens Murray services has shown me the value they provide in helping people explore, navigate and ultimately achieve their study goals. I’m excited for the opportunity to support others on that same journey and work with the community to explore opportunities for collaboration.”

Monique will be working with us three days a week — Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30am–4:30pm (or by appointment).

Please join us in welcoming Monique to the team!

If you’re considering study, returning to study, or simply want to learn more about the support available locally, feel free to drop in and say hello.
