🌱 Science Week – ‘Seeds of Science’ 🌱

To celebrate National Science Week and this year’s theme, Seeds of Science, our students explored and experimented with seeds in a fun and hands-on way! They made seed bombs using clay, soil, flour, and a variety of seeds—including vegetable, flower, and wildflower seeds. These seed bombs can be simply tossed onto the ground or into garden beds, making planting easy and exciting.

We’re looking forward to seeing the beautiful blooms and plants that will grow in our school gardens this spring!

A big thank you to the Australian Science Teachers Association for their generous grant, which provided seeds, clay, and a seed collectors kit to support this project. 🌸🔬🌿

🌿 STEPHANIE ALEXANDER KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAM UPDATE 🌿

Our school gardens are buzzing with activity after some much-needed rain! To get ready for spring planting, students have been busy testing soil pH and adding compost to improve soil health. They've also been composting, pruning shrubs and trees, propagating seeds, and planting potatoes and garlic.

Exploring our garden’s pollinators, students took part in the Australian Native Pollinator Survey—observing, recording, and discussing their findings. To support our garden wildlife, they crafted four insect hotels from recycled materials, providing safe homes and nesting spots.

The fun continues with making newspaper planting pots, seed bombs, and growing potatoes in jars. We were thrilled to welcome Mrs Ormond back to school, joining the students in making seed bombs.

Our garden is thriving thanks to these hands-on learning experiences! 🌱🐝🍅
