THIS. 🙌 Emotional regulation and executive function are connected in more ways than one. Development of social emotional skills includes an awareness of self and self-monitoring skills, among other areas. The regulation of those emotions is critical for executive functioning cognitive tasks. When we regulate behavior, the frontal lobe is at work with it’s impulse control, initiation, self-monitoring, and other cognitive skills.

AND, emotional skill development includes the ability to self-regulate. These skills mature and develop throughout childhood and into adulthood.

❓ Support categories vs line items... no line items for Self Managers!
🚨 LAST CHANCE to join our Self Management peer session on Tuesday to learn how to best manage your plan!

💪 Self management gives you more control over your plan and the ability to go above the price guide limits, but the way you make claims is important.

🗂 Support categories group your supports and services into 3 types:

- 🏠 Core – basic supports for daily living

- ⚙️ Capital – larger supports like assistive technology, equipment and home modifications

- 🌱Capacity Building – supports that help build independence and skills

🔢 Line items are specific numbers used to categorise different services according to plan rules.

✅ For Self Managers, there is greater flexibility in using support categories because:

- 📝 No line-item codes and numbers are needed on invoices

- 🚫 You aren’t bound by the pricing guide

- 💡 It is easier to manage your funds across various supports

- 🌟 There is more freedom to choose providers and services that suit your needs

📁 The Self Management resource kit also has handouts, slides, the peer session recording, auto transcription and more tips to help you have more control over how you spend your plan.

🖥️ LIVE WORKSHOP:

📆 Tuesday 28 April, 9:30am – 11:30am (SA Time)

💵 Cost: $168.90

🔗 For more info and to book, visit our website’s Workshops & Kits tab (check our comments at 9am for the link).

If your child or student always says huh? or what?, it’s not their hearing…

Kids who often need instructions given to them multiple times, or those that appear to not be listening, typically don’t have hearing problems.

If the child often asks “huh?” or “what?”, it could be an Auditory Processing problem.

You may begin to notice the signs as the child gets older when the teacher says the child struggles to complete homework, tasks and consistently asks what they should be doing.

Other signs may include the following:

👂🏻Doesn’t like to read or to be read to
👂🏻Understands written language rather than spoken language
👂🏻Hears, but doesn’t listen
👂🏻Struggles to follow conversations

It’s easy to feel like you are being ignored. However, the child is usually not ignoring on purpose, but is rather having trouble following directions through their auditory system.

For more signs and symptoms that come with an auditory delay and how to recognize it in your child, follow the link here:
