Last week the children had a dentist visit from Healthy Smiles Dental. The children that had consent forms had received free oral dental check up by the Orthodontist within the centre. The Parents/Caregivers got given a written envelope with how the children teeth have been growing, how to look after them, and if they need to go to been seen in clinic.
The children really enjoyed their teeth getting checked and had discussions all through out the day with educators and children.

Australia’s new national warning system, AusAlert, is being tested across Australia today.
The AusAlert national test will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia, which includes most mobile phones, some smart watches and some tablets. Apple iPads don’t receive AusAlerts.
See the test time in your location below:
🟢 Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
🟡 New South Wales – 2pm AEST
🟢 Queensland – 2pm AEST
🟡 Tasmania – 2pm AEST
🟢 Victoria – 2pm AEST
🟡 Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
🟢 South Australia (including Broken Hill, NSW) – 1.30pm ACST
🟡 Western Australia – 12pm AWST
🟢 Christmas Island – 11am CXT.
📱 The test will be a Critical Alert. Your device will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for around 10 seconds before stopping, even if it is on ‘silent’ or 'do not disturb'. The message will clearly identify itself as a test and no action is required. If you don’t receive the AusAlert national test, this is fine too, as it’s just a test.

Following our Bug/Insects interests within the centre we had one of our staff Jikerra brought in her snakes skin that her snake from home had shedded.
The children had a very strong interest of the snake and how it shedded its skin. Jikerra had discussions of how the snakes shed it skin, if it bites, the breed of the snake, what they eat. Also when the snakes hide when season changes become colder.
The children were able to touch and feel the snakes skin and describing how the snakes skin felt in their hands.
The children enjoyed this experience, we thank Jikerra for extending the children's learning and bringing this in for the children to explore and learn :)

This Term the children in Kinder 3 & 4 have been very interested in life cycles of bugs. Earlier in the month of May, a Pray Mantis had flew onto a child's arm and wouldn't fly away, educators had observed the Pray Mantis and noticed its belly was huge. While the children were so heavily engaged in the cycles of bugs, educators took this is perfect opportunity to expand the children's interest and knowledge around the life cycle of the Paying Mantis.
Throughout the last couple of weeks the Paying Mantis had layed its first Cocoon of eggs onto a stick in the enclosure that the children made with sand, bark, sticks and leaves.
The educators have expanded children's learning through group discussions in group times about their eating habits, how many eggs she can lay and other facts about her.
In the next couple of weeks we are hoping that her eggs hatch and we are able to complete this life cycle educational project within the centre and let her and the babies free within the yards of the centre.
We have enjoyed this education project including the children and their families.

This year is was the book called 'Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller'. The children enjoyed sitting down, reading the book with their friends :)
About Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller
Rookie captain Luna Roo leaves nothing on the pitch as she leads FC Outback in a thrilling face-off against Bush United. Faced with a spider goalkeeper, snakes in attack and bubbling nerves, Luna must trust her skills and her teammates to soar to victory.
Written by football veterans Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, Luna Roo captures all the intense excitement of the game, with a heartwarming message that courage and determination are a winning combination.

During this month our Kinder 3 & Kinder 4 room children have been very busy learning about bugs & Insects.
Teaching children about bugs and insects is important because it promotes biodiversity appreciation, scientific inquiry, connection with nature, fosters scientific curiosity, and nurtures values of empathy and environmental responsibility.
Children have learnt about the vital role bugs/insects play in ecosystems, food webs, and how these creatures have evolved incredible adaptations to thrive in almost every environment on Earth.
During our Incursion with Wildlifexposure "Creepy Crawlers" the children were able to touch and look at some live insects such as, snails & slugs, centipedes & millipedes, like spiders & scorpions.
We are looking forward to scaffolding their bug/insect curiosity within this term :)
