STUDY TOUR // Today we said farewell to our Yanping Study Tour students from Taiwan after an action-packed two weeks at Corinda State High School.

From the moment they arrived, our Homestay, International and Languages faculties worked together seamlessly to give our visitors an authentic Corinda experience.

Each Yanping student was paired with a Year 9 Corinda buddy, with students coming together for integration lessons and a program of speciality classes alongside dedicated EALD English lessons.

Today's farewell ceremony was a lovely opportunity to celebrate the friendships formed. Our Acting Principal Mr Noble presented certificates alongside Yanping Principal Shirley Shih, with students sharing their favourite memories, from learning alongside their buddies in Hospitality and Visual Art to visiting our Sheep Team at the Ekka.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make their two weeks so memorable including Ms Thompson, Mr Breen and Ms Pearson. Two weeks may have flown by, but the connections made will last much longer. Education Queensland International

TAIWAN WEEK // Students stepped into the atmosphere of a Taiwanese night market during Corinda’s special Taiwan Week event.

Students took part in ring toss, flipping Mahjong tiles and a Zhuyin Code Breaker using Taiwan’s phonetic system.

We were also pleased to welcome Chae Swindell, Principal Project Officer, Education Queensland International, and Ms Wei-Chen Lee, Acting Executive Director, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.

Thank you to our guests for supporting an event that strengthened Corinda’s international connections and gave students a meaningful link to Taiwanese culture.

HUMAN POWERED VEHICLES // Corinda’s Human Powered Vehicle teams showed off their engineering and pedal power during Race 7 of the QLD Super Series Pedal Prix at Nerang.

🥇Blue Phoenix placed 1st in the Junior Boys School Built division
🥉Yellow Phoenix placed 3rd in Junior Boys
🥉Peregrine Falcon placed 3rd in Senior Boys.

Pedal Prix is part engineering challenge, part endurance race, with students working in teams to manage maintenance, strategy and performance across the day.

A great result for our riders and support crew, Corinda’s next race coming up at Murarrie Recreation Grounds on the weekend of 5–6 September.

FASHION // Our Year 8 Fashion students, Matilda F, Ella, and Ella K, recently put their developing sewing skills to great use, helping to create a collection of reusable heat packs for our school sick bay.

This was a wonderful opportunity for students to practise their practical skills while creating something that will genuinely benefit others in our school community.

NETBALL ACADEMY // Four teams qualify for Met Finals!

Corinda’s Year 7, Year 8, Year 10 and Open Girls teams have qualified for Met Finals after standout campaigns across the 2026 Netball Gala Days.

Met Finals are the next stage of the Gala Day pathway, bringing together qualifying teams from across Brisbane after they progress through their local competitions.

The results come after Corinda’s largest Gala Day season yet, with five Girls teams and two Boys teams taking the court for the Netball Academy.

This Friday, our four qualifying teams will test themselves against some of Brisbane’s strongest school netball programs!

BRIDGE TO BRISBANE // One last reminder to sign up for Bridge to Brisbane! 🏃‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍♂️‍➡️

The Corinda community is invited to join a House team for Queensland’s biggest fun run on Saturday 13 September, with 5 km and 10 km options for runners, joggers, walkers and wheelers.

Students, families, alumni and staff can enter via the QR code on the poster and raise funds for our House charity partners.

Please note this event is run independently of Corinda State High School. Participants must arrange their own transport, and students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/carer.

FOOTBALL EXCELLENCE // SPL 2026: THAT’S A WRAP!

Special congratulations to our Junior Boys - 2026 Queensland Schools Premier League CHAMPIONS! 🏆

The team went undefeated across the season and will now progress to the Grand Final in Term 4. What an effort from the players and Mr Hogan.

A massive thank you to every player, coach, staff member and family who contributed throughout 2026.

And of course, a huge thank you to our incredible Football Excellence sponsors and partners for continuing to support our players, our program and our vision. Your investment in our young people helps create opportunities well beyond the football pitch.

We finish the year proud of our progress, humbled by the challenges ahead and hungry to keep improving.

STUDENT SERVICES // There are so many selfless, kind-hearted people who work at Corinda State High School, and our Guidance Officer Ms Riley is one of them.

Before work this morning, Ms Riley ducked out to The Mindful Bakery to pick up a box of cookies and left them at the school café, simply to spread a little kindness.

Ms Riley is part of our Student Services team, supporting students with their wellbeing, learning and future pathways alongside Guidance Officer Ms Black. They’re here to listen, support, guide and help our students navigate whatever comes their way.

EKKA // Corinda has claimed its fifth consecutive Tidy Pens Competition Championship at the Ekka, finishing on 1125 points!

Throughout the week, students and staff represented Corinda in competitions, performances and events at the Ekka, including the Grand Parade, livestock judging, Farm of the Future and performances from the Corinda Cavaliers Drumline.

Corinda results included first place awards for Sarah F and the Corinda High Team, second place results for Lucas, Lara and Alice. Reserve placings for Cooper and Hudson, and highly commended awards for Mia, Sanne, Eve and Hudson.

Our Farm of the Future team also took on one of the Ekka’s design challenges, creating a technically ambitious project with a working Minecraft recreation.
