This special celebration gave our students a meaningful opportunity to put their faith into action through service, kindness and connection with our parish community.

After Mass, our students served morning tea, enjoyed conversations and shared stories with members of the parish. A special thank you to the parents and students who contributed delicious home-baked treats!

💡🚀STEM MAD 2026 🚀💡

Throughout Terms 2 and 3, our Year 6 students participated in Brisbane Catholic Education's STEM MAD competition. STEM MAD challenges students to use the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to Make A Difference (MAD) in the world around them.

We were proud to have three teams selected to present their innovative ideas at the STEM MAD Showcase. Congratulations to Blue Loop (water filtration), who received a People's Choice Award for their outstanding project!
The STEM MAD journey saw students collaborating, brainstorming, testing, refining and creating solutions to real-world problems. Their creativity and problem-solving skills were on full display as they developed ideas such as:

💡A water filtration system to reduce waste in showers💡A bicycle-powered generator to charge student laptops 💡A light-activated retractable shade to protect plants from the harsh Australian sun💡A translation app to support communication with people who use sign language💡A digital cane that alerts people who are blind to nearby hazards

🌟We are incredibly proud of all our students for the way they worked together, embraced challenges and demonstrated innovative thinking. Their ideas showed that with creativity, perseverance and a desire to help others, young people really can make a difference and help shape a better future.

🌟Congratulations also to Rhonda Fowler for her nomination for a teacher award during the showcase. Rhonda's hard work and dedication to STEM continues to support students at St Joseph's.

🧸🏥Teddy Bear Hospital for Year 1

Students from the University of Queensland visited Year 1 today, bringing teddy bears (and even dressing as one!), to talk about what going to the doctor, dentist or hospital might look like, and how there’s no need to be worried or scared!

Sun safety, heathy eating, teeth brushing and exercise were also part of the conversations as students have been learning about how to keep themselves healthy and safe as part of their Health studies.

✨💚St Joseph's Spirit Awards - Connecting with our school's history and story by recognising those who live our spirit and mission.

🎉Congratulations to the students who received awards at this morning's Spirit Awards assembly! Each term, 4 students across each year level are recognised for consistently demonstrating the qualities of those who shaped and built the St Joseph’s School community.

🌟Today, the awards were presented by our special guest: Mr Michael Blanchfield. Mr Blanchfield is Senior Advisor – Formation & Engagement: Leadership at Brisbane Catholic Education. He has recently supported our school with the updating and rewriting of our Mission and Vision statements, and supports all teachers and school staff in the development of faith-filled, values-led learning communities within our great system of schools.

Thank you Michael for presenting our students with their Spirit Awards today.
