Clay Lab - September School Holidays

Prep to Year 6

Today’s workshop was a hit! We began by learning to paint and varnish pre made clay objects so we will be able to paint our creations later at home.

- We watched a short video on the techniques used to work with clay
- We learnt about scoring and using slip
- We learnt how to use a variety of tools used with clay
- We learnt how to texture
- We linked children’s literature to our creations when we read a story called, ‘I’ll Follow the Moon’ by Stephanie Lisa Tara and illustrated by Lee Edward Födi
- We learnt to sketch designs to help plan our creations
- We viewed samples of air-dry creations

But most of all we made new friends and had fun. The sun came out and sprinkled stardust magic throughout the air.

Creative coach Debbie feels grateful and blessed to spend time with young creatives while they explore their new crafts and nurtures their gifts and talents.

Clay Lab - September School Holidays
Prep - Yr 6

We started our workshop by learning to design and paint pre-made clay creations. Next stage will be to varnish.

While these objects dried, we began creating our clay objects.

Everyone concentrated and remained focused during the session.
