♻️𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡 – 𝗔 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗖𝗞 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗦♻️
As we work through a new process at the Coonamble Waste Facility, we ask all customers to please be patient while staff and customers get used to the changes.

To help things run smoothly, please follow these steps:

🔹 Book in on arrival with the site supervisor and bring your bags with you.
🔹 Your eligible containers will be counted through the machine.
🔹 Once counted, you will receive a receipt.
🔹 A copy of the receipt will be provided to the Main Office, where you can collect your cash.

🚨 PLEASE CHECK YOUR BAGS BEFORE ARRIVING

Only eligible bottles, poppers and cans should be included.

❌ No rubbish or contamination
❌ No needles or dangerous items
❌ No spirits bottles
❌ No champagne bottles
❌ No wine bottles

Containers that are not eligible will be rejected.

🚧 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 🚧
Coonamble Shire Council advises the travelling public that ALL UNSEALED ROADS are currently CLOSED to all non-essential traffic due to wet conditions.

🚜 Primary producers are requested to postpone the movement of heavy vehicles until unsealed sections between properties and the sealed road network have thoroughly dried out.

⚠️ Road users are reminded:
• Travelling on water-covered roads is extremely dangerous and should be avoided
• Road conditions can change without warning — if roads are open, please drive with caution
• Unsealed roads are easily damaged when wet
• Drivers may be liable for damage caused to closed roads and could void their vehicle insurance
• Repairs to damaged roads generally cannot begin until roads and gravel stockpiles dry out
• Council prioritises repairs, with higher traffic roads usually repaired first

🚑 Emergency vehicles responding to legitimate emergencies are exempt from this directive.

Council staff will continue inspecting roads throughout and following the rain event, with updated road condition advice provided as conditions change.

🎶🐄 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢𝗪𝗡. 𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗟. 𝗨𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥. 🐄🎶
Coonamble’s newest country music festival has changed its name to Cowchillah Coonamble following an unexpected letter from lawyers representing a major international music festival.

The letter came from considerably further afield — east of Coonamble, across the Pacific Ocean, somewhere between Canada and Mexico — and requested changes to the name of the
upcoming event.

Rather than allowing the unexpected correspondence to derail plans, the Coonamble Shire Council’s event team decided to embrace it and give the festival a new identity.

Cowchillah Coonamble will take place on Saturday 3 October 2026 in Coonamble’s Main Street, with the event continuing as planned.

The festival will feature live country music, food and drink, local market stalls, entertainment and a range of activities designed to bring the community and visitors together over the October Long
Weekend.

The new name was chosen with a distinctly Australian sense of humour.

“Cowchillah has a pretty good ring to it, and I reckon it’s a name that suits Coonamble,” said Coonamble Shire Mayor Danny Keady.

“Never in a million years did we think our little festival in Coonamble would attract this much attention. It’s certainly been an interesting few days, but we’ve decided to have a bit of fun with it.
We’re pretty good at taking things in our stride, having a laugh and getting on with it.

“Now we’re just looking forward to putting on a cracking night and showing everyone what Cowchillah is all about.”

The festival was established as a locally driven celebration of country music and regional Australia, with the aim of bringing visitors into the centre of Coonamble and creating an
opportunity for local businesses, artists, food vendors and community groups to be part of a major weekend event.

While the festival now has a new name, the plans for October remain unchanged.

🚧 𝗧𝗢𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗛 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 𝗨𝗣𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗘 – 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗦🚧
From Tuesday, 14 July, a section of Tooraweenah Road will be restricted to local residents and property access only while essential road, drainage and culvert works are completed.

Through traffic will be diverted via:
➡️ Mungery Road
➡️ Goorianawa Road
➡️ Weenya Road
➡️ National Park Road

🚜 Residents will continue to have access to their properties, with the project team working directly with affeted landholders where temporary access changes are required.

Please follow all traffic control and signage and allow extra travel time when travelling through the area.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we deliver these important upgrades to Tooraweenah Road.
