Situated in the heart of the Warrumbungle National Park in central west NSW, the Warrumbungle EEC offers students and teachers a unique learning experience where they can explore, discover and engage in the natural environment. The centre caters for all NSW Department of Education and Communities schools, in the local area and beyond, offering flexible K-12 cross curriculum programs, focusing on e

nvironmental education and sustainability. We adapt to all school/group sizes whether small or large and are currently updating our programs to suit the National Curriculum requirements. If you can’t come to us, we can come to you either in person or via video conference.

Warrumbungle National Park has once again put regional NSW on the world stage, recently being ranked the second-best stargazing destination on the planet in the 2026 Clean Sky Index. The Warrumbungles were recognised for their low light pollution, accessibility and internationally-recognised Dark Sky status.

As Australia's first Dark Sky Park, Warrumbungle National Park continues to attract visitors from across the country and around the world, providing unforgettable views of the Milky Way, planets and meteor showers, alongside the world-class Siding Spring Observatory.

This recognition is a testament to the region's unique natural assets. Congratulations to everyone involved in preserving this remarkable destination and showcasing the very best of regional NSW to the world.

Under some of Australia’s darkest skies…✨ This past week, Class 7 journeyed to the breathtaking Warrumbungles for their annual Astronomy trip, where learning extends far beyond the classroom.

With -5°C mornings, star-filled nights, and days immersed in nature, students experienced the rhythms and vastness of the universe firsthand. Camping beneath the Milky Way, observing the night sky, and exploring one of Australia’s premier dark sky regions brings their astronomy studies to life in a way no textbook ever could. 🌙

How many bugs can you spot? 🐛

Next week is National Science Week, and to celebrate, we’re buzzing into a number of events across the country, to celebrate citizen science and encourage everyone to join the national Bug Hunt!

🐜 Every insect, spider, snail, and worm photographed and uploaded to the iNaturalist app during National Science Week will help build our understanding of Australia’s remarkable invertebrates, and could even help detect new invasive species before they spread.

Bug Hunt is a national citizen science project led by the Invasive Species Council and Invertebrates Australia, with support from the Australian Geographic Awards for Nature program.
