Foxwell Open Boys Senior Basketball Team competed in the CBSQ Shield cup tournament over four days.

The 2026 Basketball Queensland Shield Cup tournament featured premier basketball teams competing from across the state.
The event comprised high-intensity games for developing teams aiming to advance their programs and qualify for higher divisions.

The atmosphere was electric and the competition was fierce. Foxwell Mariners won 4/7 games in our division. Our boys played so hard refusing to give up in every game. They wore the Foxwell blue and gold with pride, dignity, and outstanding teamwork.

The final Sunday game against Canterbury College saw our boys take home a convincing 20-point win with only 6 of our 11 players with Zai scoring 19 points and Lincoln pulling down multiple high-stakes rebounds as well as scoring 11 points.

Well done Brayden, Caleb, Hayden, Ihaka, Jack, Josh, Lincoln, Lucas, Lucca, Mitchell, and Zai!!

Employment Support Expo

This week we hosted an Employment Support Expo to help students and families explore the range of employment pathways and support services available after leaving school.

We were thrilled to welcome eight organisations who shared valuable information and opportunities with our students:

GCDay Support
Omnia Inclusive Employment Solutions
Sureway Employment and Training
TURSA
Prestige Employment Solutions
PathStart
Carers Queensland

Students had the opportunity to speak directly with providers and learn about a range of supports, including social and community clubs, supported internships, NDIS, SLES (School Leaver Employment Support), and DES (Disability Employment Services).

The expo provided a valuable opportunity for students to ask questions, make connections and begin thinking about the support and pathways that may be available to them as they transition from school into employment and further opportunities.

A huge thank you to all of the organisations who gave their time to attend and support our students. Their contribution is helping our young people feel more informed, confident and prepared for life beyond school.

Today is the final day of the INFQ Secondary School Southern Region 2026 Years 11/12 Mixed Netball Competition, and our Senior Mixed Netball Team is in a strong position after finishing yesterday at the top of the ladder.

There is still plenty of netball to be played today, with the team needing to maintain their position and continue their outstanding form to secure a place in this afternoon's Grand Final.

The team has shown incredible teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition, representing our school with pride both on and off the court.

We wish our players the very best as they take on today's matches. Stay focused, play your best netball, and enjoy the experience. We are all cheering for you and hoping to see you competing in the Grand Final this afternoon!

Good luck, team!

Our Year 10 Drama class took to the stage at the Gold Coast Secondary Schools Drama Festival, held at Helensvale State High School. Their powerful devised performance, Pink Ribbon, explored the issue of gender inequality and was created collaboratively by students and their teacher.

Throughout the process, students developed skills in scriptwriting, physical theatre, and political theatre, using their creativity to inspire audiences to take a stand against gender inequality.

We are thrilled to announce that the production received the coveted Adjudicator's Award for its inspiring and impactful performance. Additionally, Stella and Mika were each recognised with Outstanding Actor Awards for their exceptional work on stage.

Congratulations to all of our Year 10 Drama students, and a special well done to Stella and Mika on this outstanding achievement!

On Friday, our Year 7 and 8 GenSTEM students, along with our Year 10 STEM and Tourism students, enjoyed an incredible day at the Pacific Airshow.

For our Tourism students, the event provided an authentic opportunity to observe tourism operations in a real-world setting. Students examined customer service interactions, workplace health and safety practices, and hygienic food handling procedures used by staff and vendors. They also explored how these practices contribute to creating a safe, positive and inclusive visitor experience.

Our STEM students were immersed in a world of aviation, aerospace and innovation, interacting with exhibitors from a wide range of careers across the aviation and space industries. They attended Q&A sessions with astronauts, engineers and pilots and participated in hands-on learning experiences through the NXTGEN STEM Lab exhibits.

Students enjoyed a variety of interactive activities including flight simulators, VR aircraft engineering and flying experiences, moon rover navigation challenges, hot air balloon controls, helicopter evacuation medical procedures, and learning about the unique materials used in aircraft and spacecraft design.

Among the many exhibits, industry experts and career pathways on display, students also had a front-row seat to the spectacular airshow itself, watching an array of impressive aircraft perform breathtaking manoeuvres throughout the day.

A fantastic opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with real-world industries while exploring future pathways in tourism, STEM, aviation and aerospace.

What an incredible showcase of talent at our Term 3 Battle of the Bands on Friday! The event was so popular that performances ran across both lunch breaks, with students eager to support their peers and enjoy the music.

It was fantastic to see a mix of new and returning bands take to the stage, along with some impressive solo singing performances. The energy and encouragement from our Foxwell Mariner crowd made the event even more special.
