Dear Coombs families and wider community,

We are writing to reassure you that none of our products are affected by the recent recall that has resulted in school closures. The recalled item is coloured sand purchased from Kmart, Target, and Officeworks.

At our service, we make a conscious effort to source materials from our trusted suppliers, and we often create our own coloured sand and dyed materials. Your children’s safety and wellbeing remain our highest priority.

🌟 Jade – Our Rising Star 🌟

Coombs Early Learning would like to extend a huge congratulations to our Toddler Room Leader, Jade, who took out the Rising Star Award last night at the Early Childhood Education and Care Awards Night Gala.
We are immensely proud of Jade and her dedication to the early childhood sector. Jade commenced employment with Coombs as a school-based apprentice, working towards her Certificate III. This year, she commenced her Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education and stepped into the position of Room Leader in our 2–3 year-old classroom.
The Rising Star Award recognises individuals in the early stages of their ECEC careers. Jade’s commitment and passion for providing high-quality education to young children do not go unrecognised within our Coombs Early Learning community. Her hard work, caring nature, and bubbly spirit make her a valuable asset to our team, and we are all so proud of her achievements!
Well done, Jade — you are a SUPERSTAR! 🌟

Last night we attended the Early Learning Connections awards night! What a beautiful evening of reflection and celebrations. We are so proud to share that our superstar leader Naomi was awarded in recognition of outstanding leadership, celebrating services and leaders who nurture professional growth and create environments where educators and children thrive.
This is a true reflection of the culture Naomi promotes and the leaders she is actively mentors.

This year, alongside our annual Father’s Day BBQ, we decided to make the celebration even more meaningful by organizing a raffle with items generously donated by local businesses and community members. The idea was to not only bring people together for a fun afternoon to celebrate the special male role models in our childrens lives, but to also raise funds for a cause that truly matters—Menslink, an organisation dedicated to supporting young men in our community.

In total, we raised an impressive $490, which will go directly to supporting Menslink’s initiatives for young men facing mental health challenges, as well as providing mentoring and education services.

Mark from Menslink, who came to collect the funds, expressed his sincere gratitude. He shared some of the impactful work the organisation has been doing and emphasised how important community support is in making a real difference.

A huge thank you to John Rankin Distributions, Canberra Raiders, National Zoo & Aquarium Canberra, Canberra BMW, HOYTS Australia, Pizza Top, Runway Barber, Delta paintball, Club Lime, Home-grown meats and the Weston Raiders Club for you donations.

An inspiring day today at the 2025 National Educational Leader Conference, talking about reimagining & revitalising: Planning & Documentation in Action. A great opportunity for some of our Coombs ELC leaders to engage in rich pedagogical discussions about the importance of slowing down and noticing the unexpectedness of children’s play and interactions in a learning environment. Always great to connect with our mentor whose practices and framework underpin our way of documenting in the classroom with children, capturing their voices and what’s meaningful to them. 📚 🔍

Forest School Program 2025 🌳
Last week our Forest school program re commenced for 2025. This year we have over 120 children aged 2-5 years old taking part in the program, with excursion groups going out 8 times a weeks. As with the beginning of all new programs week 1 was about exploring our new location and setting expectations for the sessions ahead. Children worked collaboratively with their educators to write their forest school agreement which will be re visited each week of the program during terms 2 and 3. As children explored the environment they enjoyed balancing on rocks, climbing trees, wading across the stream and learning how to use magnifying glasses.
We look forward to sharing more forest school photos as the program continuing during our Autumn and Winter months.
