30 seems to be the theme for me today....
Was going through some OLD surfing magazines at home today and came across this, dated December 1995.
A Surfing Life mag which featured a section of 30 days of Duranbah. Thanks for giving it to me years ago which he found on the lunch table at work...
Ironically i started shaping 30 years ago this year, and this is the first board in the picture I'd ever shaped...the nose flip is laughable now but that's where we were at in 95' 😂
I still remember this wave. The colours were unforgettable.
D-Bah was not easy to get a good wave off the older boys of that time and if you steppped out of line and got greedy you either got slapped or told to learn some respect. Or both. It worked though & people that put time in got waves eventually.....
Living in the past? Yeh. But f**k it was a great place to grow up and appreciation is nice.
Duranbah was better pre pumping jetty ( just my opinion)
It packed some punch.

That would have to be one of the nicest mornings in my 51 years of life here....
The small things, are actually the big things, I think.
No wind, 1ft runners and the clearest water ive ever seen with whales everywhere.
So many you could hear them underwater when you went under.
I hope each and every person in this world has these moments....that re-energise the soul.

I love photos like these....not only great surfing, but you can tell so much on how a board is going through that one millisecond of time in particular frames.

Words cannot do it justice, spending time with you for 10 days from New Years Day 2025.
Flying over to work with on behalf of Adam & meet with you was nerve racking to be honest as ive had a massive amount of admiration all the way from Australia for many years, as you have accomplished so much over time within your career.
Your a Master Craftmen. Everyone knows that.

But, not only did I meet a Master....
I met one of the most generous, loving & friendly humans ever.

~The Shaping Bay~
A place where "surfboard shapers" spend a third of their life possibly.....if they're fortunate enough.
It's a special place for me as the majority of time is spent alone, and i love that.
Anyone that knows me knows I value a portion of my day alone & in silence.
Immersed totally in your own thoughts and processes which is as close to meditation & being in the moment without the act of meditation.
Nature is the only other place in the world which provides those exact emotions for me.....
Not just surfboards but a collective of energy
I truly believe there is an energy that goes into surfboards.
Part of the " magic " surfboard possibly?
Who knows, but they're definitely a special piece of foam, fibreglass & resin that creates so much joy.
Also a place that can humble you when you least expect it.
