Working with Founders and Leaders, I see the same patterns showing up again and again when we talk about their teams - regardless of industry.
Here are the three I see most often:
1. Everyone is “busy”, but no one is clear. The team is working hard… yet the outcomes don’t match the effort. This usually isn’t a capability issue - it’s a clarity issue. When priorities shift weekly (or daily), people default to activity instead of impact.
2. Conversations are polite, not productive. Teams avoid the real conversations - the ones that feel uncomfortable but actually move things forward. When feedback is softened, delayed, or avoided, small issues turn into systemic problems. Honest, real conversations - that are both timely and consistent move things forward.
3. Everyone is solving symptoms, not causes. A founder will say, “My team isn’t performing,” but when we dig deeper, the real issue is usually:
Unclear expectations
Inconsistent leadership rhythms
Lack of uniformity in operating systems.
Lack of capacity.
When the foundations aren’t solid, everything feels harder than it should.
The good news: These patterns are fixable (and quickly) when leaders create clarity, set simple rhythms, and build the confidence to have the conversations that matter. (I can't emphasise this last one enough - check out Fisher for a tonne of helpful communication frameworks!)
If you’re a founder or manager and want support diagnosing what’s really going on in your team, I’ve opened a couple of spots for Leadership & Operational Clarity Sessions this month.
Send me a message if you’d like the details... And enjoy the rest of your long weekend NSW!

Are you the BEST Leader you could be?
B e the Weather.
E ncourage (Always).
S eek to Learn, not to Tell.
T ransformation starts with You.
When leaders embody these four behaviours, teams feel safer, braver – and INSPIRED! The ripple effect is real - and it starts the moment you decide to step out of maintenance mode and to bring change.
I’ve unpacked each of these in a full article on my website. If you want to elevate your leadership presence and create meaningful, lasting change, you can read the expanded version here: www.racheldaphnecoaching.com - Link in Bio
