🎨Hanging Day – Up2Date Art Exhibition🎨

Brett and I were lucky enough to help out on day two of hanging the Up2Date Art Exhibition.

Brett has helped with the hanging before, but seeing it firsthand gave me a whole new appreciation for just how much thought goes into placing each artwork. It's an art in itself, choosing which paintings work together and making every piece shine.

A huge well done to everyone who volunteered their time—it's already looking incredible, and I'm so excited to walk through it all again with everyone.

I'm especially proud of the many students from The Studio Coolamon who have entered this year, whether returning exhibitors or showing their work for the very first time. Congratulations—you've done yourselves proud, and I can't wait for you to see your beautiful work on display❤️

Well done to the organisers who have worked tirelessly in the lead up to the exhibition.

Opening night is Friday 28/8/26 and runs until 13/9/26. Hoping that you all get the chance to attend.

Make sure you get your Raffle tickets for the Up2date Art Raffle $5 a ticket. Fundraising for the Public Schools. There are three wonderful creative classes that can be won (including a voucher for my classes) and a whole heap of different prizes donated. Drawn Sunday 13/9/26.

💕🥰 Some days remind me exactly why I do what I do 😍 💕

I’ve just finished a private class with one of my favourite students, Di. She told me my classes are her therapy for whatever ails her, and that is something I’ll treasure.

Di had admired a painting by G Ren that a friend found at the Eumundi Markets in Queensland more than 20 years ago. She decided she wanted a version of that beautiful country scene in her own life—a windmill, eucalyptus trees and a kookaburra.

Working with a very limited palette on a piece of mini rib she’d collected during her travels made this a wonderfully challenging project, and she embraced every step of it.

Well done, Di. Your painting is beautiful, and thank you for spending the day with me in your private class.

Sometimes social media creates the most unexpected ripples. ❤️🎨

A few months ago, I wrote a post hoping to find my Year 11 and 12 art teacher from Baulkham Hills High School.

I couldn't remember her name, but I remembered her. The glamorous teacher with the dark eye shadow, dramatic mascara, short skirts and thigh-high boots who took us to inner-city galleries, opened our eyes to artists we'd never encountered and made art feel bigger than the classroom. She planted a creative seed that stayed with me for more than 40 years.

Thanks to the incredible Hills District community, people remembered. Her name was Miss Bond.

We haven't quite reconnected as yet, but I'm hopeful that through the kindness of everyone who shared my post, it may have found its way to her.

The most important thing was simply having the chance to say thank you.
To let her know that the encouragement she gave a teenage girl in 1984 helped shape a lifetime of creativity.

Today I have The Studio Coolamon, where I spend my days encouraging others to find their own creative voice.

Teachers rarely get to see where the seeds they plant eventually bloom.

This one did.

So thank you to everyone who shared my story. Every share became another ripple, and I'm still hoping one of those ripples reaches Miss Bond. 💕

We’ll wander through Coolamon capturing the little details that make our town special—using ink, pencil and loose watercolour washes in a beautiful concertina sketchbook.

A relaxed, creative day for beginners and experienced artists. 🌿

From Chaos to Creature: An Abstract Animal acrylic painting Workshop 🐾

Start with a beautiful mess, then discover what animal is hidden within.

Join me for a playful and creative day exploring abstract painting as a pathway to image-making.

We’ll begin by creating rich, expressive backgrounds using loose, intuitive mark-making—then pause, observe, and bring an animal to life from the shapes and colours already on the canvas.
