Book Week at Burnie High School

It was a fantastic week at Burnie High School as students and staff came together to celebrate Book Week. A range of activities highlighted the joy of reading and storytelling across the school.
Students put their literary knowledge to the test during Home Group Book Trivia, while creativity shone through in the Bookmark Design Competition organised by our SRC. Our student Interact Group also successfully ran a Book Swap Initiative, encouraging students to share and discover new books.

The week culminated in our much anticipated Dress Up Day on Friday, 28 August, with students and staff showcasing an impressive array of costumes. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year's Book Week such a memorable and enjoyable celebration of reading.

Join us in thanking our Teacher Assistants for all that they do for our students, staff and school community. 💚

A group of Burnie High School students had the opportunity to attend the UTAS Music Industry Workshop in Burnie.
The day provided students with an insight into the many different pathways available within the music industry. Students took part in speed careering sessions, explored pathways into the industry, and participated in practical workshops focused on composition and singing.

A valuable part of the experience was the opportunity to connect with people currently working and studying in the music industry, including some former Burnie High School students who were able to share their own experiences and pathways since leaving school.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to build connections, develop their skills and learn more about where a passion for music could take them in the future.

A big thank you to Beacon Foundation, UTAS and everyone involved for organising and providing such an engaging and valuable experience for our students.
