Penrhos College

Penrhos College Welcome to Penrhos College, a place with no ceilings, only sky. Courage starts here. At Penrhos College, we have a vision to revolutionise girls’ education.

Located in Perth, Western Australia, Penrhos College is a Uniting Church Day and Boarding School, Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. With a ‘limitless’ purpose, we put our students at the centre of everything we do. Our strategy is built upon five pillars – Embrace, Create, Soar, Blaze, and Impact, and grounded in commitments to no ceilings; make your own adventure; find the fun; and be a force for good.

Our Year 11 Human Biology and Year 11/12 PE Studies General students recently visited Curtin University to explore study and career pathways in Health Sciences and Exercise & Sport Sciences. Through interactive presentations, specialised workshops, and a campus tour, students gained valuable insights into university life and the diverse opportunities available in health, sport, and science-related fields.

Our Science Innovation Centre was buzzing with excitement today! Students explored mining operations through virtual reality, gazed through telescopes, and got up close with some incredible native animals, including birds of prey, snakes, frogs and so much more.

A huge thank you to all the staff who helped bring the day to life and made it such a fantastic experience for our students!

🍭 Veruca Salt came to visit! 🍫

Our Year 2 students have been fascinated by Veruca Salt since our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory production, even using her as part of their classroom enquiry.

So, imagine their excitement when Veruca herself came to visit yesterday! Bella (Year 11) arrived fully in character - accent, attitude and all - dazzling the students with her wonderfully bratty performance.

Then came a ballerina twirl… ✨ and Veruca disappeared, replaced by our lovely Bella, who answered more questions about rehearsing, learning lines and dances, and bringing a character to life, this time in her usual kind and thoughtful manner.

Before long, the students had another request: “Can you be Veruca again?”

And, of course, Bella happily obliged! One more twirl and Veruca was back. 🍭

What a performance. What a joyful learning experience for all! 💛

Adventure is well and truly underway in Outdoor Education! 🚵‍♀️🧗‍♀️⛵

Our Year 10 students have earned their Recreational Skipper’s Tickets and are swapping the water for the trails with mountain biking this term. Meanwhile, our Year 9 students are building their outdoor skills with trangia cooking and climbing.

From learning practical skills to embracing new challenges, Outdoor Education is all about making your own adventure and, of course, finding the fun along the way. 🌿✨

We loved celebrating Boarding Week this term! From selling delicious homemade treats to raise funds for the Blue Tree Project, to secret friends and a fun themed dress-up day, the week was all about bringing our community together and sharing what makes boarding at Penrhos so special.

A beautiful winter’s day set the scene for our second Menrhos Salami Workshop of the year, with plenty of first-timers joining dads on campus to learn the art of making salami from scratch.

The new Menrhos cutting boards were put straight to work as the group prepared their preservative-free salami, which will now hang to dry for three to four weeks before everyone comes back together to clean and vacuum-pack the finished product.

A great day of learning, laughs and connection. Now comes the hardest part... waiting to taste the results!

Our recent VET Assembly was a wonderful celebration of student achievement across a diverse range of vocational pathways.

Congratulations to Matilda, Madi and Ella, who were announced as our incoming VET Ambassadors for 2027!

The assembly also featured a fantastic performance by 2024 Penrhos graduate Ava, who completed a Certificate III & IV in Music while at Penrhos and went onto a Bachelor in Contemporary Music at WAAPA. Ava encouraged students to “cancel the noise” and confidently follow their own path.

A message echoed by our Year 12 keynote: Ella who echoed this message with her homage to the film Monster High: “Be true to yourself.”

Our Year 9 students explored the inaugural Penrhos Plant Expo as part of their Biology unit, discovering the incredible adaptations that help plants survive in different habitats. It was a chance to get up close, discover how plants are uniquely suited to their environments, and see their classroom learning come to life! 🌱
