Hope early next year we finally see the train stopping at the Colo Vale Station 🚂
🤔 You might have spotted this bright yellow machine recently at the NSW Rail Museum - but what is it?
🏗️ From next Monday, this tamper will begin work on the last - and biggest - package of track works as part of the Loop Line Upgrade Project. Works will start with specialised tamping and ballast regulator machines operating along the entire Loop Line from Picton to Colo Vale.
🚅 A series of ballast trains will then bring in more than 15,000 tonnes of fresh ballast, commencing from Mid-October. The ballast will then be regulated to give the track a smooth, neat and stable finish.
🛤️ If you're along the Loop Line, you may notice some noise from track machinery and ballast trains, and some dust as ballast is placed. This will usually be short-lived as the machines work progressively along the line. We will work to keep these impacts to a minimum, and we thank the community for its patience.
🥳 Completing this work is an important milestone for the Loop Line Upgrade Project. Once resurfacing is complete, final testing of the track can take place and test trains can begin running on the line - bringing the return of heritage train services one step closer!
