What an exciting milestone! We’ve officially submitted the VECTEA 2026 application to the Fair Work Commission and are looking forward to the next steps in the process.

A fantastic day at the Victorian Council of Social Service 2026 Community Sector Education Forum yesterday, exploring issues that are fundamental to our sector: community, equity and inclusion.

There was a lot to take in, from research, facts and insights to first-hand stories and honest conversations about where equity stands today, the barriers that persist, and what is needed to create meaningful and lasting change.

We were privileged to hear from some fabulous keynote speakers, ably facilitated by VCOSS’s Cate Edwards (VCOSS), including Dr David Howes (Department of Education), The Hon. Lizzie Blandthorn MP, Minister for Children and Minister for Disability, and Professor Sharon Goldfeld, Director of the Centre for Community Child Health.

We left with plenty to reflect on, a deeper understanding of the challenges ahead, and a renewed commitment to advancing equitable outcomes for children, families and communities.

We're pleased to share that the majority of employees have voted in favour of the proposed VECTEA 2026 Agreement.

This is an important milestone for Victoria's early childhood education and care sector and reflects the strong engagement of employees throughout the voting process, with more than 8,000 employees participating in the vote.

The next step is for the agreement to be submitted within 14 days to the Fair Work Commission for approval. Until the approval process is complete, the current VECTEA 2020 Agreement remains in effect.

ELAA will continue to provide implementation resources and will share updates as soon as they become available.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the voting process. We appreciate your ongoing engagement and look forward to supporting members as the agreement progresses through the approval process and towards implementation.

VECTEA 2026 EXPLANATORY PACKS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED

The access period has now commenced and voting will open on Wednesday 12 August, 1.30pm.

Employers have distributed the explanatory packs and they can also be accessed via the ELAA website. Employees would have also received these documents from Vero Voting via their individual voting link.
