Our Philosophy

Collie Early Education is a warm friendly environment, and we pride ourselves as being a fully inclusive quality service where childr

en, families and educators are treated as equals and valued as individuals. We strive to do this by providing a highly positive environment where all members such as staff, children, families and stakeholders are made to feel welcome and share an important place within the community of our centre, regardless of their gender, race, culture or religious belief. The aim of the service is to produce happy, confident children who are interested in life and enthusiastic about the challenges they will meet. We endeavour to help children thrive and learn through child-initiated, play-based experiences. Every child at the service is cared for with genuine warmth and affection and is valued as an individual. We aim to promote self-esteem and develop confidence from birth right through to preschool years and to encourage the children to be considerate and respectful of others and their feelings. Children’s voices guide our practice and are reflected in the services’ programs. The service is committed to working within the National Quality Standards, National Quality Framework, guiding principles and practices and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework, family feedback and children’s voices influence and inform our planning, policies, and practices. Each child’s unique needs are our first priority as we link with their families to identify the child’s interests and provide them with a relaxed, warm, stimulating, and safe environment that complements their needs and abilities. Collie Early Education is a safe place where parents can feel assured that their child is getting the best start in life. We value the importance of play as it is a way that children are able to learn and investigate the world. Room Educators cater their programs to children’s individual needs as they critically reflect on their pedagogy, environments and use the planning cycle within these processes to observe, analyse, plan, implement and reflect on their practices. The service incorporates additional curricula activities that engage with creative arts, multiliteracies and physical play through music, dance and movement and provides children with opportunities to explore the local community through excursions. Incursions are offered to families, children and community at local events, open days, and family engagement sessions. The service has recently become a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) accredited centre gaining their Level 3 Certificate and promotes STEM learning through nature and loose part play. The service also runs Forest School sessions where children have the opportunity to engage in an outdoor classroom in all weathers, as they participate in activities that promote self-esteem, build confidence, and develop social skills, problem solving and risk management. Collie Early Education Inc Where every child is nurtured and encouraged…

Families are encouraged to be involved within the centre in ways that make them feel comfortable. Family involvement allows for family identity and cultural backgrounds to be implemented within the service environment that shapes our community, this enables the process of belonging, being and becoming. The service encourages family engagement through our open-door policy and family events. Strong relationships between parents and educators facilitates teamwork and open communication which maintains consistent care from the home environment to the care environment and supports children to feel safe and secure. We are respectful to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures as well as the varying cultures within our community. When a child joins our setting and has English as a second language or no English at all, we work to make the child and the whole family as welcome as possible. We will recognise the importance of the home language, culture and religion and are able to provide translations of some documents in certain languages and can access support for families as and when needed. Our educators are guided by the code of ethics and this shapes their thinking, decision making and action as childhood professionals and are mindful of their responsibilities towards their colleagues, students, families and children who attend the service. Educators provide high quality experiences to inspire, challenge and support children to enable them to be the best they can as they liaise with outside agencies and professionals to seek support and guidance with regards to children’s learning and development.
