Collaroy Plateau Community Kindergarten is located in Collaroy Plateau on Sydney's beautiful Northern Beaches. At the time of European settlement the Northern Beaches was the traditional home of the Guringai people. We acknowledge and respect the values and customs of the Guringai people who are the traditional custodians of this land whereupon Collaroy Plateau Community Kindergarten is situated.

We pay our respects to the elders both past and present and invite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to attend our Preschool. At CPCK, we accept the responsibility of developing an awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal history and culture and the diversity of the many cultures found within the Preschool community which, we believe, strengthens and enriches our lives and the lives of our children. Our Story

CPCK offers a play-based, child-initiated preschool curriculum across three key environments. We provide a social environment that fosters a strong sense of community and belonging, an emotional environment that is beautifully nurturing and a physical environment that is natural and inspiring. We provide care and learning under the unique community-managed, not-for-profit service delivery model. Community management facilitates child-centered decision making that complements and reflects the local community. There is a strong sense of connection for families as CPCK nurtures relationships and networks that support children through the transition to school and society. The sense of community at CPCK is enhanced by its over 60-year history of caring for Northern Beaches preschoolers. Many families continue to open the CPCK doors across multiple generations. Children attend on the same days each week, interacting with the same classmates and teachers. Our long-established teachers are experienced, passionate, energetic and dedicated. In this social context, children are able to develop a sense of belonging that extends outside of the family unit. Their experiences are meaningful, their independence grows and they develop ownership of their learning. We provide two-day and three-day programs for children aged 3.5 – 5 years at our location of Hall Avenue, Collaroy Plateau. We invite families to visit our preschool and experience first-hand the unique learning environment we have created for our children.

Pause to listen...

Sometimes as adults we rush to fill empty space by using our voice. Or wonder why a child isn't answering us. But speaking up too quickly can stop the thinking process in our children and ourselves.

It was very exciting to see one of our Preschool dads and daughter at the Northern Beaches Clean up in Palm Beach on Sunday. What we learnt is that we must refuse single use plastic wherever possible and avoid purchasing food in 'convenient' packaging. Instead of a single use yogurt container which we found where the plastic top and lining was still intact, we must choose a refillable container instead. Something for us all to consider when packing our children's lunches and morning teas.

A sad yet exciting last day for the 2 day groups for 2018! Thank you to you all for making the year such an energetic, fun and happy year of learning, exploring and experimenting. Today we celebrated the end of the year with a party day, singing, playing and reading favourite songs, games and stories. We also had the construction of the biggest slide ever which required lots of team work and we had a shared party lunch and DVD voted in by the children. Pluto was the winner from the other DVDs that were on offer. Thank you to all families and children for our Preschool for what it is.

A sad and happy day for the Koala group today. The Management Committee and the Class parents bid Robyn who has been at Preschool for c.13 years and Kirsty who has been at Preschool for c.18 months farewell at an afternoon tea... just before the rain. Gorgeous flowers supplied by Nicole Storey and beautiful flower petal cards with special messages and gift card from the class parents. Thank you to you both for all that you have given to our beautiful preschool. You will be missed in 2019.

One of two sing-a-long days this week- what a lovely time spent together! Thank you to all the visitors and thank you to all the children for making such a happy and gorgeous memory! And, the Kookaburra group gave Preschool a surprise courtesy of Rory from Wilk and son ... a beautiful bench seat that has the perfect place in the courtyard.
