Science Week at BioLab:
As part of National Science Week, our Year 9 students visited BioLab, the Victorian Bioscience Education Centre, to explore the fascinating world of biomimicry.
Working alongside specialist science educators in a professional laboratory, students discovered how nature can inspire innovative solutions to real-world challenges, from humpback whale fins influencing wind turbine design to kingfisher beaks inspiring Japan’s bullet trains.

Through hands-on activities, students thought like scientists, engineers and designers while exploring the question: What can we learn from nature to help solve the challenges of tomorrow?

A fantastic way to celebrate Science Week and inspire curiosity, creativity and innovation!

FROM CSC TO THE BIG STAGE!
We are bursting with pride to celebrate Nyaneal, our Year 10 student, who has been selected as one of just 25 Principal Vocalists for the 2026 Victorian State Schools Spectacular!
This is an incredible achievement and a huge honour as Nyaneal is making CSC history as our first student ever selected as a Principal Vocalist!
Nyaneal has been travelling to rehearsals every weekend and has already gained so much from the experience, including the opportunity to learn from professional performers and industry experts.
Each year, we are incredibly proud to have 18 CSC students selected to perform in the Mass Dance Ensemble at the State Schools Spectacular. To now see one of our students step into the role of Principal Vocalist is something truly special.
Nyaneal, we are SO proud of you!
We can’t wait to see you take the stage on Saturday and shine.

Thanks to Sam. Abbey, Elise, Aster and farmer Meg for helping out Garden Life at their Parliament Exhibition today. The Colac Secondary College students did a great job demonstrating environmentally friendly seedling pots and when done I was pleased to give them a behind the scenes tour of Parliament.

Colac Secondary College is inviting suitably qualified and experienced cleaning service providers to submit a tender for the provision of cleaning services commencing in 2027. The contract covers three service lots – Colac Secondary College, the Trade Training Centre and Colac Community Library – with cleaning services to be delivered in accordance with the requirements and frequencies detailed in the tender documentation. The contract will be for an initial three year term, with options for two further one-year extensions (3 + 1 + 1).

BOOK WEEK FUN AT CSC!
Who says Book Week is just for the little kids?
Our students and staff proved that you are never too old to bring your favourite book characters to life!
There were creative costumes and plenty of laughs at the Book Week Parade, it was a fantastic celebration of stories, imagination and a whole lot of school spirit.
It was wonderful to see both students and staff getting into the fun and showing off their literary alter egos!

THANK YOU!!
A huge thank you to Sally and our SRC, along with our amazing students, staff, and wider school and local community, for jumping on board and supporting our Daffodil Day fundraiser yesterday! A special shout-out to Sally for her leadership and enthusiasm in driving the fundraiser and bringing everyone together for such an important cause.

It was fantastic to see our school community embracing the yellow theme, coming along to the BBQ and showing such wonderful support.

Daffodil Day helps support the Cancer Council’s work to fund vital cancer research and provide support for people affected by cancer.

And what an incredible result. We have exceeded our fundraising goal by DOUBLE!
Thank you to everyone! What a fantastic example of our school community coming together to make a difference!

Standout Group
What a great time we have had at our LGBTQIA+ Standout Group this term!
Last week, we enjoyed Just Dance, snacks and plenty of good vibes while celebrating community, connection and being our authentic selves.
The Standout Group is a weekly lunchtime group where all students can come together, connect and have fun. The group is open to all students/allies who support diversity, inclusion and our LGBTQIA+ community.
We’re looking forward to celebrating Wear It Purple Day on Tuesday 1st September, with fun lunchtime activities open to all students. ✨

You Just Never Know – Road Safety Awareness Program
Our Year 11 students recently took part in You Just Never Know, a powerful and interactive road safety and trauma prevention program designed to highlight the very real consequences of risk-taking on our roads.
Through real stories and presentations from emergency services, health professionals, police and others who have experienced road trauma, students were encouraged to recognise potential risks, make safer choices and understand that one decision can change a life forever.
As our students move closer to becoming drivers and spend more time on the road as passengers, this was an important reminder that you just never know what can happen — so make every choice count.
