On Monday a group of our Year 6 students participated in the Write a Book in A Day competition. The students worked with a group of teachers from 8am until 6pm to plan, write and illustrate their very own book called “It’s a Looooooooong Story”. The Write a Book in A Day competition is part of the Kids Cancer Project and the books written by the students will be sent to children in hospital so they can read the amazing stories.

Today eight Grade 5/6 students represented our school in the Colac Inter School Badminton competition. They had a very successful day with the girls and boys both winning their division & therefore overall St Mary’s won the aggregate. Congratulations on not only their win but their exemplary sportsmanship.

Grade five and six students visited the Aboriginal gathering Place in Colac.
They were welcomed by local Gulidjan woman Ebony Hickey. Ebony shared dreamtime stories of the creation of the local landscape. We discussed, change over time and how we can help look after our country so future generations can enjoy it like we do.
We saw some amazing art work by artists: Gerard Black, Nathan Patterson, Kylee, Eb Hickey, Jay Hickey. Alan Wember and Ange Jeffrey and more.
We can't wait to go back and visit again soon.
Two of our lucky students won prizes for respectful, thoughtful and insightful questions.

Today our amazing Preps celebrated their 100th day of school!

We had so much fun enjoying crafts, 100s & 1000s fairy bread, colourful hair spray and face painting as we celebrated being 100 days brighter.

We are incredibly proud of everything our Preps have achieved over their first 100 days of school. They amaze us every day, and we couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful way to celebrate our little superstars!

The actors and singers for our upcoming school production have been hard at work rehearsing with Deb today.
Our superb dance captains have also been working hard with Emma to get all our classes ready for their dances.

Our Year 3/4 students had a fantastic day at the Colac & District AFL 9s Gala Day held at Central Reserve, taking on schools from across the district.

The round robin carnival is designed to introduce students to the game of Australian Rules Football in a fun, inclusive environment, and our students embraced every opportunity. Their improvement from the first game to the last was outstanding, with growing confidence, teamwork and skill on display throughout the day.

A big thank you to all of the parents and families who came along to cheer the students on. Your support is always greatly appreciated. We'd also like to thank our staff for coaching, motivating, encouraging and looking after our students throughout the day.

Well done to everyone who represented St. Mary's with such enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Today we gathered as a school for a beautiful Prayer Gathering led by the Grade 3 students celebrating NAIDOC week. We then returned to our classrooms and completed NAIDOC activities which we shared as a school on the courts before completing a coin spiral with donations to go to the Colac Aboriginal Gathering place.

What an awesome end to Term 2! The children enjoyed fun food and the Arts and Culture team held our St Mary’s Got Talent final with our children displaying their many gifts in singing 🎵 dancing 💃 and the performing arts. Congratulations to all who took part and to our winners for the day ‘The Acrobats’. We wish you all a safe and relaxing holidays and look forward to seeing you all refreshed for Term 3!

🎉🎈 Milo’s Surprise Party! 🎈🎉
Our Prep students have now met all of our initial code characters in the Little Learners Love Literacy program, and that called for a celebration! 🥳

To celebrate all of their amazing learning, we held Milo’s Surprise Party and came dressed as our favourite Little Learners Love Literacy characters. 🐧🐶🐸

The day was filled with fun, including:
🎁 Peter Penguin Pass the Parcel
💃 Daisy Dog Disco
🍉 Felix Frog Feast.. and we finished our party with Tim Turtles tour of our school, allowing students in grades 1-6 to celebrate our amazing preps!

There were smiles, laughter, dancing and plenty of learning celebrations along the way. 🎉
