A child’s “difficult behaviour” is often a nervous system asking, “What happens next?”
When mornings are rushed, plans change without warning, play ends suddenly or bedtime feels different every night, children can feel overwhelmed before they have the words to explain it.
Simple routines don’t need to be strict or perfect. They give children something powerful: predictability.
Knowing the usual order of the day can help children feel safer, reduce worry, make transitions easier and build confidence to do more independently. A familiar morning checklist, a consistent after-school wind-down or a calm bedtime rhythm can make a bigger difference than we realise.
The goal isn’t control. It’s connection, preparation and reassurance—especially on the messy days.

AusAlert test alert – Today 🚨
AusAlert, a new national warning system that uses the latest technology, is being launched by the Australian Government to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.
AusAlert will launch in October 2026, but before then it is being tested across Australia.
On Monday 27 July, your mobile phone, tablet or smart watch may receive a test alert.
The test times:
• 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
• 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
• 12:00 pm AWST (WA)
Devices will:
• vibrate
• play a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds
• get a message on screen confirming it’s a test.
It will make this noise today even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.
If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.
This is only a test, so you don’t need to do anything.
In a real emergency, you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

Your toddler is growing, exploring and starting to show their own personality, including what they like and do not like.
Sleep plays an important role in supporting their development. Toddlers need 11 to 14 hours of sleep a day, including naps. A calm and consistent night routine can help them wind down, feel secure and get the rest they need.
