🐊 Happy World Crocodile Day! 🐊

Today, we're celebrating a bit differently. After many years as one of the most well-known residents at Reptile World, Snappy the crocodile has headed back to Koorana Crocodile Farm.

He has been a major part of Reptile World for a long time and a real favourite with both visitors and staff. We've really appreciated being able to share him with so many people and see how much interest and enjoyment he has brought to those who have come through our doors.

John, Jason, Adam and the team from Koorana were fantastic to deal with throughout the whole process, and seeing the care they put into moving Snappy made it clear that he's in good hands. Snappy is thoroughly enjoying his new home so if you stop by Koorana, make sure you say g'day to him!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and visited over the years to see Snappy. We know many of you will miss seeing him just as much as we will!

🐊 SNAPPY THE CROCODILE 🐊

After almost 20 years with us, we’re sharing some incredibly difficult news about Snappy the Crocodile, which also unfortunately means some changes for our Reptile Centre

Snappy has been a huge part of our lives and the wider community for nearly two decades. The Reptile Centre itself was established almost 7 years ago, built mainly around the long-term goal of creating a dedicated home for him and continuing to share him with the public for many years to come

Unfortunately, due to ongoing financial pressures and rising operational costs, we’ve had to make the very hard decision to close the Centre. This means Snappy will be returning to Koorana Crocodile Farm in the coming days to become a breeding male, with his departure scheduled for either the 22nd or 23rd of May. We’re sorry for the short notice, however due to the logistics involved in relocating a crocodile of his size, arrangements needed to be made quickly

Over the past period, a number of contributions made toward Snappy were used directly toward the planned expansion and improvement of his facilities. With circumstances now changing and the Centre closing earlier than anyone ever expected, remaining resources are being directed toward ensuring Snappy’s safe relocation and responsibly completing the closure process

Over the next 8-9 days, we’re inviting anyone who would like to come to the Centre to visit, share memories, and say a proper goodbye to Snappy before he leaves. He’s been such a big part of so many people’s lives, and we’d love the chance for everyone to have one last visit

To help accommodate everyone wanting to come and see him, we’ll also be extending our trading hours this Saturday from 9am–5pm as a tribute to Snappy

While this chapter is coming to an end, it certainly won’t be the end of Reptile World. Steve and Matt already have some exciting plans for the future, so keep an eye on our socials over the coming months

We’re extremely proud of what the Centre has meant to the community, and we’re deeply grateful for all the support, visits, and friendships formed over the years
