If you are the child or grandchild of a Vietnam Veteran, you may be eligible for a bursary to assist with your educational expenses.

Applications are now open for the 2026 round of the Long Tan Bursary which is worth up to $12,000 over 3 years.

The scheme is named after the Battle of Long Tan, fought by Australians during the Vietnam War.

Since it began 25 years ago, more than1000 children and grandchildren of Vietnam Veterans have received help to further their education.

Applications close on 31 October 2025.

Honouring tradition and creating memories

Latisha, a proud Year 11 student from Coen, recently lived out a lifelong dream – participating in her Debutante Ball while boarding in Charters Towers.

Following in her sister’s footsteps, Latisha stepped into tradition with confidence and pride. With support from her local O-Hub and savings through SET, she was able to make the night truly special – with her mum, dad and younger brother there to celebrate by her side.

Moments like these matter and SET helps families make them happen.

Right now, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs is looking for ADF veterans and family members (18+) to volunteer and help deliver international Anzac Day commemorations, from Gallipoli to Villers-Bretonneux, Hellfire Pass, and more.

RIP Your Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.
21st April 1926 – 8th September 2022.
Reigned 70 years.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

📅 New student free days added to Term 4! 📅

In recognition of the outstanding efforts of school staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the last two days of the school year, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December, have been declared student free days. Schools will be closed on these days.

For some regional, rural and remote schools that finish the school year earlier, the student free days will be Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December.
