Last week, it was our Year 1 and 2 studentsโ€™ turn to hit the pool at Splash Swimming!

Our students had a fantastic time building their water confidence, developing their swimming skills and, of course, having plenty of fun along the way!

A big well done to our Year 1 and 2 students for showing their Personal Best and Courage throughout their lessons and for walking to and from the pool with great Respect and pride.

What an exciting day we had at Turrun last Friday with a visit from Andrew McDonald, the much-loved author of the Real Pigeons series!

Our students loved hearing about Andrewโ€™s journey as an author, discovering how stories and characters come to life, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

It was a wonderful opportunity to inspire our students to read, imagine and create, while meeting an author whose books are loved by so many of our students.

A huge thank you to Andrew for visiting Turrun and helping us celebrate the joy and magic of books!

What a wonderful morning of celebrating books at Turrun! This year, we celebrated Book Week with the theme โ€˜A Symphony of Storiesโ€™, bringing the magic of our favourite books to life.

Our students proudly paraded their fantastic costumes, transforming into some of the characters they know and love. From Paddington and Harry Potter to superheroes, Little Red Riding Hood and many more, our school was filled with colour, creativity and a shared love of stories.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Turrun community for supporting our students and helping make the morning such a special celebration of the joy of reading.

This term, we were excited to introduce Auslan as our second language, giving students a new way to communicate, connect and include others.

Our students have enthusiastically embraced their weekly Auslan lessons, developing new communication skills while learning the importance of inclusion. It has been wonderful to see students confidently using their new signs throughout the school and sharing their learning with friends and teachers.

We are incredibly proud of the curiosity, courage and commitment our students are showing as they learn a new language and discover new ways to communicate.

Learning to communicate in different ways helps us build a more inclusive and connected school community.

We invite families to attend the Book Fair after school. A range of childrenโ€™s books, posters, stationery will be available for purchase between 8:15am and 8:45am and 3:30 and 4:00pm in The Library.

We are excited to welcome Andrew McDonald to our school!
Andrew is the bestselling Australian author of the hugely popular Real Pigeons series and the Hello Twigs books. His stories are packed with humour, mystery and adventure, inspiring young readers to discover the joy of books and storytelling.
During his visit, Andrew will share what it's like to be an author, where he gets his creative ideas, and how stories are brought to life.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet a successful Australian author and gain an insight into the exciting world of books. We look forward to an inspiring and memorable visit! If your child has an Andrew McDonald Book at home, they can bring it along to get it signed by Andrew.

This week, our Foundation students had their very first swimming lesson at Splashโ€™s Swim School. For some, it was also their very first time in a swimming pool and they showed incredible courage!
There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and splashes, as students began learning vital swimming and water safety skills.

A HUGE thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers for helping with the walk to Splash and assisting students as they got ready. Weโ€™re also grateful to Splashโ€™s Swim School in Clyde North for running such a fantastic program.
