Imagine the surprise and joy on the faces of our Safe Around Schools Competition winners as they received their prizes of giant boxes of sports equipment. Lisa and Vanessa from Safe Around Schools were delighted to present 5/6B, 3/4A, 1/2B and Prep C and D with their goodies for being the grades with the most students walking and riding to school. The message to continue to walk and ride to school and wear helmets correctly was also shared. Our students were very excited to play with and share their equipment during recess and lunchtime. Thanks Safe Around Schools!

Congratulations to our award winners for this week!

A few weeks ago, I nominated Mirniyan to be part of the Football Australia Forever Golden School Spotlight Series.

As part of the nomination, I shared our story about Mirniyan as a new and growing school, the importance of football within our community, and the positive impact sport has on our students through connection, belonging and participation… and with the Winter Gala yesterday, what GREAT timing!

We have officially been chosen to be featured as part of the series and have been showcased on the Socceroos/Football Australia Instagram page, such an exciting opportunity for our school community!

It was with great pride that Mr Clinch and myself were able to take our student leaders to a lunch with MP Brad Battin this afternoon. Yelini, Naksh, Cloie and Manraj met many students from other schools in Mr Battin's electorate and together they discussed the characteristics of being a good leader. Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandella and Martin Luther King were identified as being exceptional leaders by the students and they then thought about their own leadership strengths.
We are very proud and lucky to have such a wonderful group of students leading our school by example.

On Wednesday the 10th of June, Mirniyan proudly sent teams across four different sports throughout the City of Casey for the Clyde District Winter Gala. Students competed in Soccer, Netball, Tee Ball and Badminton, representing our school against nine other schools within the district.

The day was a huge success, and I honestly couldn’t be prouder of our students and staff. Across all sports, students demonstrated fantastic teamwork, resilience, collaboration, sportsmanship and school pride. There were plenty of wins and losses throughout the day, but what stood out most was the way students supported one another, encouraged teammates and represented Mirniyan so positively.

A special mention to our Soccer team, who had an incredible day, winning 4 out of 5 games and finishing Runners-Up overall, bringing home Mirniyan’s very first runners-up Winter Gala flag, such an exciting milestone for our growing school community!

All teams had a fantastic experience, and the hard work students and staff put into training in the lead-up really paid off. The day ran so smoothly, and the students had an absolute ball.

Friday was jam packed with fun and activities beginning with National Walk to School Day. We had many families walking and riding to school to join in the festivities one they arrived. There was dancing and games and lots of fun to be had!

The afternoon was equally as enjoyable where families had the opportunity to come and join us in the classrooms to learn about Road Safety. There were some important messages for all and we are grateful that everyone got to be part of this occasion.

We would like to invite our families into our classrooms next week for Education Week. Please join us next Friday 22nd at 2:30pm. We can't wait to see you there!

Join us on Friday 22nd May at 8.20 in the yard for Walk to School Day.

On this day we are asking families to park the car further away and walk to school. Celebrations will start at 8.20 am in the yard, with music, dancing and outdoor games.
Fruit will also be available.

We would love it to be a community affair, with families joining in the fun too!

Over the past two weeks our Mirniyan Mic Masters have been practicing their skills with Miss Formby on our fantastic podcasting equipment! There was lots of laughs and giggles using the voice changer buttons!🤣
