Have a look at our Mirniyan movie stars! On Monday some of our students had the opportunity to participate in the filming of an instructional movie for crossing supervisors. These movies will also be used to send road safety messages to the public.
The producers of the movie were so impressed by how our students conducted themselves, their patience and lovely manners.
We can’t wait to see the finish product. Stay tuned …

What a magnificent turnout we had at our father’s and Special Others Day Breakfast! We were pleased that so many of our fathers and special others were able to attend and connect with each other. The highlight for our students was having them come into our classrooms and make paper planes. We hope you all had the most wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.

Dear Mirniyan families,

A new episode of the Mirniyan Mic Masters is ready to listen to!

This week, the Mic Masters are taking us on a trip back to the Grade 5/6 Camp.

Our student podcasters interviewed some of the Grade 5/6 students about their camp experiences, from favourite activities and memorable moments to the challenges they faced along the way.

Camp is certainly about having fun, but it also provides students with valuable opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, build independence, develop resilience and strengthen friendships. In this episode, you’ll hear directly from our students about what made camp such a memorable experience and what they learnt along the way.

The Mic Masters have once again done a fantastic job planning their questions, conducting interviews and bringing together another episode for our community.

👩‍🔬 National Science Week at Mirniyan! 👨‍🔬

What an amazing week of curiosity, discovery and hands-on learning we have been having at Mirniyan Primary School as we celebrate National Science Week 2026!

Inspired by this year’s theme, “Seeds of Science – Nurturing Knowledge for All 🌱,” our students have been busy exploring the incredible science hidden inside something as small as a seed.

Throughout the week, students have taken part in special lunchtime activities including making cress heads, creating homes for seeds, making pollinator seed balls and dissecting seeds to discover what is hiding inside. Our Science Week Superstars have also done a fantastic job helping our younger students investigate, create and learn. And we’re not finished yet!

Next week, we’re inviting our whole school community to join the fun at our Seeds of Science Family Afternoon. Children and adults will be able to explore science together through hands-on activities, microscopes, seeds, growing, investigations, competitions and more — with science books to win!

With Book Week approaching, our student podcast team has been busy behind the microphones creating a special episode to help our school community get ready for the celebrations.

In this episode, the Mic Masters share book recommendations, costume inspiration and plenty of Book Week information and ideas. If you’re still wondering what your child could dress up as, you might find some inspiration!

Each podcast gives our Mic Masters the opportunity to develop their confidence, communication, interviewing, teamwork and digital media skills while creating something that can be shared with our whole school community. So gather the family, have a listen and get ready to celebrate all things books and reading!

You are invited to Mirniyan's National Science Week Family Event!🔬

Join us for an afternoon of discovery, creativity and hands-on science as we celebrate National Science Week 2026!

Inspired by this year's theme, "Seeds of Science 🌱 – Nurturing Knowledge for All," families are invited to explore, investigate and learn together through a range of fun, interactive activities suitable for all ages.

From planting seeds and exploring them under microscopes to creating recycled newspaper pots, browsing our special Book Week science library and much more, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. This is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to experience the excitement of science together, ask questions, discover new ideas and create lasting memories.

Wednesday 26 August
3:15 pm – 4:30 pm in the Science Room, Kitchen and Library

There is no cost to attend, and families are welcome to drop in at any time during the event.
