Here's the full interview we couldn't wait to share! 🙌🏽

We recently sat down with Melody, a Middle Years student at Rivercrest, to hear her powerful story of how she came to faith in Jesus during her time at CREST.

She shared what she's been learning about Jesus at school, including how reading the Bible has helped her grow in her faith and as a person. ✝️

We’re so excited for you, Melody, and so excited for all that God has ahead for you! 🙏

Congratulations to Hesanya, a Year 11 student at Rivercrest, on an incredible summer at Harvard University’s summer school program! 🎓✨

Her experience in the IB Diploma Programme at Rivercrest helped prepare and inspire her to take on this outstanding opportunity, where she explored social medicine and social change with leading academics.

Hesanya reflected and mentioned that she left with a different perspective of the world.

“It changed the way I look at people, systems, and the circumstances that shape people’s lives,” she said. The experience also strengthened her desire to pursue a future in medicine, particularly social medicine.

She returned not only with new friends from around the world and memories that will last a lifetime, but “with a clearer idea of the kind of person I want to become and the kind of work I want to pursue.”

Hesanya also had some words of inspiration for current CREST students looking to the future.

"One of the biggest things I took away from Harvard was realising that you do not necessarily have to wait until university or adulthood to start doing something meaningful."

We’re incredibly proud of her ambition, curiosity and commitment to making a difference, especially her determination to “turn what I learnt into something meaningful here” in Australia.

Hesanya is putting our 4 pillars into practice, Instilling Faith, Pursuing Excellence, Nurturing Wellbeing and Serving Community.

Well done, Hesanya! We can’t wait to see where your journey in medicine takes you! 🌟

We are thrilled to celebrate an outstanding achievement by the CREST String Orchestra, who recently participated in the prestigious Monash Youth Music Festival, competing in the Senior Large Ensemble Under 18s category.

Under the professional tutorage and leadership of their conductor, Lucy Miribyan, the CREST String Orchestra delivered an exceptional performance and was awarded First Prize in their category.

Held annually, the Monash Youth Music Festival is one of Melbourne’s major youth music events. Each August, the festival brings together well over a thousand young musicians from across Melbourne to participate in more than forty events, including ensemble and choral competitions, solo competitions and non-competitive musical events.

The ensemble’s performance was highly praised by adjudicator Dr Andrew Mathers, who commended the orchestra’s exceptional presentation, beautiful tone quality, balance and intonational precision. These comments are a wonderful recognition of the dedication, musicality and teamwork demonstrated by our young musicians.

This achievement is a testament to the commitment and hard work of every member of the CREST String Orchestra, who represent both Rivercrest and Hillcrest Christian Colleges. Their success reflects not only their individual talent, but also the strength of collaboration, discipline and a shared passion for music.

Huge congratulations to all CREST String Orchestra musicians and their conductor, Lucy Miribyan, on this incredible achievement!

We are immensely proud of their success and look forward to seeing what this talented ensemble achieves next.

Last week, our CREST Basketball Academy entered all our Boys and Girls U15 and U17 teams in the Victorian Champions Cup for the first time, taking on some of the strongest school basketball programs in the state! 🏀🙌🏽🇦🇺

U15 Girls: The girls got their tournament off to a great start with a close victory over Iona College, a well-established basketball program. They then pushed Rowville for most of the game before Rowville pulled away in the final quarter. In the Elite 8 qualifier, the girls faced a very strong Caulfield Grammar side, finishing their tournament with plenty of valuable experience to take away.

U15 Boys: The boys produced two exciting comeback victories in their opening games, showing great composure and determination against Marcellin and Melbourne Grammar School. They then faced St Patrick’s Ballarat in a closely fought Elite 8 qualifier, narrowly missing out on a place in the final eight.

U17 Girls: The girls opened with a convincing win over Luther College before taking on a strong Victory Christian College side. After qualifying for the Last 16, they faced Rowville before finishing against Lowanna College in the Elite 8 qualifier.

U17 Boys: The boys showed plenty of fight in their opening game, overcoming a significant deficit to secure an impressive comeback victory against Point Cook College. A slow start against Templestowe College in their second game proved difficult to overcome.

Overall, it was a fantastic first Champions Cup experience for our basketball program. Competing against established programs from across Victoria gave our students the opportunity to test themselves at a high level, and the majority of our games were highly competitive.

There is plenty of work to do as we look to take the next step, but that's exactly what tournaments like this are about: testing ourselves against the best, identifying areas for improvement and using those experiences to keep developing.

We’ll be back next year better prepared, more experienced and determined to make an even greater impact.
