With 90% of a child’s brain development happening in the first five years, the role of early educators is one of the most important influences in their lives.

Every day, educators carry the enormous responsibility of nurturing, guiding, and creating opportunities for children to explore, wonder, and grow. The experiences provided help shape not only the learners of today, but the kind, capable humans of tomorrow.

The Everlearn team of educators does this with dedication, passion, and heart. They are the backbone of the community, and their contribution cannot be measured in words alone.

Today, on Early Educators’ Day, we pause to say a heartfelt thank you. Thank you for your patience, care, creativity, and the countless ways you make a difference in the lives of children and families every single day.

What a wonderful way to wrap up our week of storytelling, imagination and learning!

Today’s Book Parade was a beautiful celebration of our love for books! Seeing our children proudly arrive dressed as their favourite book characters brought stories to life in the most magical way.

Book parades are so much more than dressing up. They encourage children to develop a love of books and storytelling, build language and vocabulary, grow their confidence and communication skills, and share their favourite stories with friends and educators. When children talk about characters, retell stories and use their imaginations, they are building important foundations for literacy.

Most importantly, books and stories create joyful connections, between children, educators, families and the wonderful world of imagination.

What a fantastic week of storytelling, imagining, creating and learning we have shared together!

A huge thank you to our wonderful families for helping bring the children’s favourite stories to life. Your support makes these special moments even more meaningful.

Here’s to a lifelong love of stories, books and learning!

Two thousand posts. Countless smiles. Thousands of messy-hand paint masterpieces, splash-filled outdoor adventures, and quiet moments of wonder.
When we first opened our doors, our mission was simple: create a home-away-from-home where every child feels safe, loved, and empowered to explore the world at their own pace. Two thousand memories later, our hearts are full of gratitude for this incredible community.

To our amazing families: thank you for trusting us with your little explorers every single day.

To our dedicated educators: thank you for turning everyday moments into extraordinary learning experiences.

To our children: thank you for teaching us how to look at the world with curiosity and joy.

Here is to the connections made, the milestones celebrated, and the thousands of stories yet to be written.

Over the past two months, our Yellow Group children have embarked on an inspiring series of nature excursions to Clovelly Beach and Burnie Park. Walking together to explore these unique local environments, and catching the public bus back, gave the children a hands-on opportunity to connect with the world around them.

During each excursion, the children sang an Acknowledgment to Country, searched the trees for bird nests, scanned the horizon for whales, and collected natural treasures to bring back into the classroom for further learning and exploration.

These experiences highlight the importance of real-world excursions and nature-based play in early childhood. Immersive outdoor experiences allow children to move beyond structured environments, developing spatial awareness, building emotional resilience and learning to navigate real-world social experiences.

Time spent exploring natural environments also provides rich sensory experiences, encourages creativity and problem-solving, and supports children to develop a deep sense of curiosity and connection with Country. Through these meaningful experiences, children begin to develop an appreciation for the natural world and an understanding of their role in caring for it.

Today, the children had the opportunity to take part in a fun and engaging STEM session hosted by three wonderful teachers from St Margaret Mary’s Primary School Randwick.

They began by reading ‘Twenty Big Trucks in the Middle of the Street’ by Mark Lee. The children loved listening to the story and joining in with the excitement of the trucks.

After story time, it was time for a hands-on STEM challenge. Each table was set up with a wooden plank and a truck, and the children worked together to build ramps for the trucks to travel down. They experimented by adding more blocks to make the ramps steeper, then made predictions and tested whether the trucks travelled faster or slower as the ramps became higher.

There was lots of excitement as the children shared their ideas, solved problems and explored different ramp designs.

Hands-on STEM experiences like this encourage children to think critically, problem-solve, make predictions and learn through exploration, while also building confidence, creativity and teamwork.

A big thank you to the wonderful teachers from St Margaret Mary’s Primary School who made this experience so enjoyable for the children.

Last night, we welcomed the incredible Susanne North to our preschool for an inspiring parent workshop! Susanne brings a wealth of knowledge to early childhood, and after listening to her session, parents were able to walk away with simple, practical shifts to help mornings run smoother and feel so much more manageable.

During the workshop, Susanne talked about how we can actively foster resilience, confidence, and healthy self-esteem in our little ones. She shared her “Ten Building Stones of Resilience” framework, offering simple, evidence-informed strategies to help children cope with stress, navigate everyday challenges, and bounce back from setbacks. The session explored practical ways to strengthen supportive relationships, build emotional skills, and be the positive role models our children need to grow into confident, capable, and thriving adults.

A huge thank you to all of our families who came along and joined us for such a valuable evening. If you couldn’t make it or would like more information, please pop into the office to chat with our team, or feel free to contact Susanne directly online via SPIEL Family Coaching.

We love supporting and growing alongside our preschool community!

Recently the children were very lucky to welcome Suzanne from SPIEL Family Coaching, a wonderful parenting and wellness coach.

During her visits, Suzanne introduced the children to simple mindfulness techniques and encouraged them to think about how they can care for both their bodies and their busy minds.

Together, they explored the importance of slowing down, taking a break and finding ways to relax when their minds and bodies feel busy. The children learnt about their very own superpower, the amazing ability our bodies have to help us feel calm. They discovered that one of our simplest superpowers is closing our eyes and taking slow, deep breaths.

The children explored different breathing techniques, including 5-finger breathing, slowly tracing around each finger while taking calm, gentle breaths.

One of their favourite activities was tummy breathing. Instead of using rocks, the children placed a soft toy gently on their tummy as they lay comfortably on their backs. They watched as their soft toy slowly rose and fell with each breath, helping them see and feel how their tummies move as we breathe in and out.

These visits provided a beautiful opportunity for the children to practise being still, focus on their breathing and notice how their bodies feel. It was wonderful to see them embrace these calming strategies and discover that their bodies have their very own superpowers to help them slow down, relax and feel ready to learn.

A big thank you to Suzanne for sharing these wonderful mindfulness tools with the children across both visits and helping them discover the power of their breath.

We’re pleased to share that we have recently installed a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the office at Everlearn Preschool.

This is an important addition to our preschool and reflects our commitment to making Everlearn a safer place for our children, families, visitors and staff, as well as our wider community.

Around 32,000 Australians experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year. When cardiac arrest occurs, every minute matters. The combination of CPR and early defibrillation can dramatically improve a person’s chance of survival.

All of our staff receive regular training in CPR and the use of an AED. The new AED we have chosen is also incredibly user-friendly and intuitive, providing clear guidance during an emergency.

We’re proud to make Everlearn Preschool a community AED access point and would love our local community to know it is here.

Please help us spread the word, particularly to local families, friends and neighbours who may benefit from knowing where an AED is located.

Because knowing where an AED is, and knowing how to use it, could one day help save a life.

Last week was World Dental Week, and the children enjoyed learning all about their teeth and the importance of keeping them healthy and strong.

The children began by discussing the different ways they can care for their teeth. They shared that they brush their teeth in the morning and before bed, and explored how toothpaste helps remove germs and keep their teeth clean and healthy.

They then had the opportunity to practise their brushing skills, making sure to reach every tooth while using gentle, circular motions.

To extend their learning, the children got creative and designed their very own mouths, complete with healthy, happy teeth!

It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic as they explored the importance of good oral hygiene through hands-on learning and play.
