🎨✨ Our Junior Kindy children have been getting creative by exploring paint with their whole bodies! From hands and feet to big movements and sensory discoveries, the children experimented freely, expressing themselves while developing coordination, confidence and an understanding of how their bodies move through space.

This experience supports the EYLF Outcome 3 – Children have a strong sense of wellbeing and Outcome 4 – Children are confident and involved learners. 💕

Our children have been developing their control of movement through Montessori-inspired practical life experiences. Activities such as pouring, spooning, transferring, and caring for their environment help build concentration, coordination, independence, and confidence while fostering a sense of responsibility and pride in their abilities.

These meaningful experiences support the National Quality Standard, particularly Quality Area 1: Educational Program and Practice and Quality Area 5: Relationships with Children, as children engage in purposeful learning that promotes autonomy, wellbeing, and lifelong skills.

Our junior children enjoyed extending their learning this morning through a variety of flower-based experiences, building on their interest from planting our potion garden last week. 🌸 The children explored different experiences, encouraging curiosity, creativity, language development and meaningful conversations as they investigated the natural world together.

At our service, we create safe, engaging sensory experiences that encourage children to learn through play while supporting their individual interests and development.

This learning is closely linked to the National Quality Standard, particularly Quality Area 1: Educational Program and Practice, by providing intentional, play-based learning opportunities.

Today, our children explored creativity, culture, and connection to Country through a meaningful painting experience using natural resources.

As we painted with leaves, sticks, seed pods, and other treasures collected from nature, we learned about the colours of the Aboriginal Flag and the important meanings they represent. ❤️💛🖤

🖤 Black represents Aboriginal peoples.
❤️ Red represents the earth, the land, and the spiritual connection to Country.
💛 Yellow represents the sun, the giver of life and protector.

Using natural materials encouraged the children to engage their senses, connect with the environment, and express their understanding through art. Through these experiences, children develop respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives while building a sense of belonging and appreciation for the world around them.

This learning aligns with the National Quality Standard, particularly:
⭐ Quality Area 1 – Educational Program and Practice, by providing meaningful learning experiences that support children's understanding of diversity and culture.
⭐ Quality Area 5 – Relationships with Children, by fostering a sense of identity, belonging, and respect for others.
⭐ Quality Area 6 – Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities, through embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within our program.
⭐ Quality Area 7 – Governance and Leadership, by supporting our commitment to reconciliation and culturally inclusive practices.

Our toddlers have been exploring their creativity through painting without templates, allowing them to freely express themselves and engage their senses through colour, texture, and movement. This open-ended experience supports imagination, fine motor development, and sensory exploration, aligning with National Quality Standard 1.2.1 and 5.1.1 by promoting intentional teaching and encouraging each child’s individuality and learning.
