Okay Cleveland Dojo, we have a bit of catching up to do 😮‍💨 it’s been a busy few months and the photos updates have fallen behind. Luckily it makes for a bigger celebration and more memories to look back on.

So… to kick things off the Thursday Night Crew would like to welcome Jaun and Abigail to their first class with us. We have thoroughly enjoyed teaching you both.

Our STUDENT of the MONTH for July went to Sheran for her outstanding commitment to the class and her dedication to the journey that is Karate. It’s wonderfully that we get to be part of that journey too!!

Next - we would like to say welcome to Brant!! Well done on your first ever class with GKR, you completely smashed it and we hope the karate bug has bitten 🥋.

Congratulations are in order for Jeremy achieving his 9th Kyu (yellow tip) grading. Very soon that tip will take over the white and we will have a new 8th Kyu to train!! 🟡

We also welcome Damien on his first class with us, your karate is improving so much already and it’s great seeing you in the dojo every week.

Now for another massive round of applause to Jordan on achieving STUDENT of the MONTH for August!! 👏 Your karate has come a long way and we can’t wait to see that black belt officially awarded to you.

Our last student to welcome for the month of September is Levi. Thank you for coming along and adding our class to your schedule. It’s a pleasure teaching someone who is so focused during the lesson and eager to try new skills.

keep up the AMAZING work everyone. Even if you haven’t been mentioned we really do appreciate all the students who commit their time to the class. It makes our week to see you all there. Future Black Belts in the making 🥋

Yvonne started karate with her son to give him the confidence she missed as a child. 21 years later and in the midst of cancer treatment, the thought of returning to karate keeps her on track.

Well Students, since we didn’t get to have a class tonight, I thought we could reminisce with our monthly photo dump!!!

The month started off strong with Cleveland Dojo welcoming two new students for their first class.
Thank you for joining us and making the dojo awesome - Aadya, Shiven, Oliver and Sirinapat!!

We also had three very important Kyu gradings in class… So congratulations too 🎉-
Thomas - achieving 3rd Kyu Ho
Oliver - achieving 5th Kyu Ho
Charlotte - achieving 5th Kyu Ho

And last, but not least, our VIP Student of the Month for JUNE went to AVRIN!!
Her outstanding class attendance and effort to her karate journey couldn’t be overlooked. 🥋

A big THANK YOU to all the amazing students we get the privilege of teaching every week for making Thursday nights so awesome. We wouldn’t have a class if it wasn’t for your continued support.

What an incredible weekend!
The very best of GKR Karate competitors came together in Telford UK to showcase their skill, determination and spirit at the 2026 GKR Karate World Cup.

Every student who stepped onto the mat represented themselves, their dojo and GKR Karate with pride. Their sportsmanship and outstanding performances made their families, friends and Sensei incredibly proud. A huge congratulations to every competitor, official, volunteer and supporter who helped make this event such a memorable success.

In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

Let’s GOOO CLEVELAND DOJO!!
As always we have said goodbye to another month and hello to a new one, so we all know what that means.

Starting the post off strong with acknowledging our Student of the Month for May being Jorja, just one of the many stand out students putting in her all every class. Congratulations Jorja 🎉

Following that excitement - we welcomed a new student to the class, can’t wait to see you in Gi Jeremy!!

Next we would like to congratulate Emma on achieving her first grading with us and being a part of our 9th Kyu (yellow tip) students ⭐️

Last but not least, we had an awesome tournament in the month of June and many of our amazing students performed their all on the day. Congratulations to all the students who competed, you always impress us with the standard of your karate and your outstanding sportsmanship 🥋

Well, since our Karate Ka missed out on the first Thursday night of the month we might as well acknowledge the fantastic month of May!!

Let’s start the post off with a certificate of recognition awarded to Karyn for her fantastic responses, we really appreciate it when the students show us they hear us with a strong response and Karyn has definitely been all over it.

Vincent graded to his 4th Kyu Ho and is displaying some great karate, his focus and commitment to his training is really paying off and getting him closer to that black belt.

Judith is our Student of The Month for April. She is one of the hardest training students we have in the dojo and we love seeing her achieving her goals.

Last but not least we welcomed Kim to his first class with us, it was great having him part of the team.
