Since Australian troops waded ashore on 25 April 1915 at an obscure Turkish cove, the myth of Gallipoli has established itself as the pre-eminent event in the representation and commemoration of Australian national identity.

Each year since, Australians gather in spiritual reverence and sacred ritual.

The Anzac Spirit is part of our attempt to define ourselves as a people, and to answer the question: What does it really mean to be Australian?
