What if stress isn’t always the enemy?

A racing heart, sweaty palms and a tight chest can feel like warning signs. But they’re also signs of activation – the same response that can help you rise to a meaningful challenge.

Monash alumni are invited to join organisational psychologist Dr Kat Page for a free Full Circle webinar exploring how to tell the difference between stress that builds you and pressure that wears you down.

You’ll leave with practical ways to re-label pressure, choose challenges that align with your values, and balance effort with recovery.

Big ideas rarely arrive with a guarantee. Sometimes, the most important step is simply starting.

Monash Bachelor of Commerce graduate Mitchell Hughes is the co-founder of NextGen Ventures, Australia’s first venture capital fund dedicated to backing student founders.

Launched in late 2023, the fund supports early ideas and the young people bold enough to pursue them.

This World Entrepreneurs’ Day, discover Mitchell’s journey, and why he believes failure is part of building something worthwhile: http://mona.sh/yuur50ZC6V9

One scholarship opened a new chapter for Hasina.

After moving to Australia from Afghanistan, Hasina balanced caring for her young child with rebuilding her own path. An Achieving Potential Scholarship made postgraduate study possible, giving her the chance to complete a Master of Educational Leadership at Monash.

Now a Monash graduate, Hasina hopes to work in career counselling and help students find pathways that reflect their own aspirations. The support she received has also inspired her to one day create similar opportunities for others.

This World Humanitarian Day, read Hasina’s story and see what one opportunity can set in motion: http://mona.sh/BNOy50ZAJIK

Chancellor’s Walk for Change returns to Clayton campus on Thursday 10 September and you’re invited to join us! Come together with students, staff, and fellow alumni for a special 5km walk to celebrate what makes Monash truly special.

As part of the event, alumni can take part in relaxed Mentor Walks, a low-pressure opportunity to meet fellow graduates and members of the Monash mentoring community in person. Whether you’ve previously connected with a mentor or mentee, or simply want to expand your network, everyone is welcome. Simply join the walk, start a conversation, and see where it leads.

The event is free and all participants will receive a free Monash Blue t-shirt with roving entertainment, music, activities and food offerings throughout the evening. This year’s event will continue to support important student initiatives, including providing immediate financial relief to those in need.

Throwing it back to the days of buzzing lecture theatres, whirring computer labs, and music & language labs alive with energy. These were the spots where ideas sparked, friendships formed, and memories were made.

Do you recognise anyone in these throwback photos? Share your own snaps, tag your lab buddies, study partners, or the friend who always “borrowed” your notes.

Let’s see who made the campus come alive back then!

For International Youth Day, we’re looking at what can happen when promising students receive the support to pursue ambitious ideas.

Tobias received the Cybec Scholarship while undertaking medicinal chemistry research at Monash. His project used computer-aided discovery to explore potential antiviral treatments targeting SARS-CoV-2.

When alumni and donors support scholarships, they help talented students facing hardship devote more focus to their studies and research — creating opportunities that might not otherwise be possible.

Have you ever considered the power of the words you use with yourself?

In this video taken our Full Circle webinar, Tiny Tweaks, Big Shift, Amantha Imber talks about how the words we use help shape habit formation. One quick win is the difference between saying “you can’t” do something and “you don’t” do something.

Art can do more than tell a story. It can break a silence.

Kamilaroi artist and Monash alumni Tabitha Glanville has been selected for Hatched: National Graduate Show 2026 at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art.

Her three-part film and spatial installation, gyrr ngaya bina-guwal winangaylahna (I am listening now with different ears), follows a journey back to Kamilaroi Country with her father. Through film, archival audio and place-making, Tabitha creates space for family history, truth and connection.

Now a director at Bus Projects and a tutor at Monash Art, Design and Architecture, Tabitha is helping the next generation find confidence in their own creative voices.

Hatched 2026 is showing at PICA from 1 August to 4 October. Discover Tabitha’s story: http://mona.sh/gKxb50Zw0uk
