NALANGANA WANNAMA
(THE GRACE OF A FEMALE DANCER)
Since the 18th century there were only 18 Wannams in the field of Traditional Kandyan Dance in Sri Lanka. But later-on various artists brought in few new Wannams as more and more neo – dancing items were created. The NALANGANA WANNAMA is such an addition, brought into the list of Wannams in the year 1963. This Wannama was scripted by Senior Professor Mudiyanse Dissanayake.
In this Wannama, the writer describes the beauty and grace of a female dancer with a touch of extravaganza. The writer does not miss to elaborate not only the natural beauty of the dancer, but the glitter and glamour of her costumes as well as the grace of her movements!
