📚✨ BOOK WEEK 2026 ✨📚

What a fantastic week celebrating our love of books, reading and stories at Clarinda Primary School! 💙❤️

Our Book Week celebrations were jam-packed with fun! We enjoyed an incredible incursion performance by Perform Education, who brought a selection of the 2026 CBCA Shortlisted Books to life through an engaging and entertaining performance. 🎭📖

We also held our much-loved Book Week Parade, where students and staff transformed into some of their favourite book characters and proudly showed off their creative costumes!

To continue the celebrations, students took part in special multi-age Book Week rotations. Teachers each selected a 2026 CBCA Shortlisted Book to share, with students moving around the school in multi-age groups to enjoy the story and participate in a fun follow-up activity. It was fantastic to see students of all ages connecting, sharing stories and celebrating reading together. 📚✨

A big thank you to everyone who got involved and helped make our Book Week celebrations so memorable! What a special way to celebrate the magic of stories and our shared love of reading. 🌟💙❤️

Meet the wonderful Miss Neaves, one of our fantastic Year 5/6 teachers!

Bright, bubbly and always eager to put her hand up and get involved, Miss Neaves brings a positive attitude and plenty of laughter to our school each day. She loves getting to know each of her students and understanding how they learn best, challenging them at their individual level and thinking outside the box to help them succeed.

She can also often be spotted arriving at school with a new footy-related injury—but that never stops her from getting involved and bringing her infectious energy! Miss Neaves certainly brings plenty of fun, enthusiasm and team spirit to Clarinda! 💙❤️🏉

Mrs Young has been part of the Clarinda Primary School community for many years and has worn many hats along the way. With her wealth of knowledge and experience, she is a valued teacher, leader and colleague.

Mrs Young is passionate about ensuring every student feels safe, connected and engaged, creating a warm and welcoming environment where our youngest learners are ready to learn and thrive.

On Wednesday, our school community proudly launched ‘The Characteristics of a Member of Clarinda Primary School.’

It was with a celebration of our school values and team work and it truly highlighted what a special place Clarinda Primary School is to learn.

This initiative was created collaboratively by both the students and teachers and it was wonderful to see our community come together and celebrate our shared vision.

The students in the junior school did a fantastic job at unpacking the characteristics. Each student captured their first thinking by illustrating an example of a characteristic to create a class display.

Meet the wonderful Mrs Sarah Matti, one of our fabulous Year 1/2 teachers!

Mrs Matti’s journey at Clarinda began as an Education Support staff member while she was studying to become a teacher—and lucky for us, she has never left!

Mrs Matti is passionate about her students and has an incredible ability to get to know each child, understand how they learn best and help them thrive. Always smiling, she is a caring and dedicated teacher, as well as a wonderful team leader and colleague.

🚀 FREE DRESS DAY – THIS WEDNESDAY! 🌈

This Wednesday, 12th August, we’re celebrating the launch of “The Characteristics of a Member of Clarinda Primary School” with a special out-of-uniform day! ❤️💙💛💚

Students are invited to come dressed in the colours of our Play Is The Way Life Rafts, each representing the qualities and expectations we want to see across our school.

💛 Yellow – It takes great strength to be sensible
💚 Green – Be brave, participate to progress
❤️ Red – Pursue your personal best, no matter who you work with

💙❤️ Happy Principals’ Day! 💙❤️

Today we celebrated Principals’ Day by recognising and thanking our incredible leaders, Mr Mallett and Mrs Backhouse, for everything they do for our school community.

This year was extra special as Mr Mallett celebrated 10 years as Principal at Clarinda Primary School—a decade of dedicated leadership, commitment and care.

To celebrate, our staff put their knowledge to the test with a fun Kahoot, enjoyed a hilarious Prep video answering “What do they do all day?” 😂 (with answers ranging from playing Call of Duty and drinking coffee to giving out stickers!), and shared a special lunch together.

While so much of what they do happens behind the scenes, their leadership, guidance and support help make Clarinda Primary School the wonderful place it is.

Happy Principals’ Day, Mr Mallett and Mrs Backhouse! Thank you for everything you do. 💙❤️

Come along, meet our wonderful Prep team, explore the classrooms, and start getting excited for 2027! Children are invited to wear their favourite colours, and parents can collect their child’s Showbag and hear from our guest speaker.

Over the coming months, our transition program will help children build confidence, make new friends and become familiar with school, while also supporting families as they prepare for this exciting milestone.

This week we’re introducing the wonderful Miss Delany, one of our fantastic Year 5/6 teachers and Team Leaders at Clarinda Primary School! 💙❤️

Miss Delany is passionate about creating a classroom where every student feels supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their personal best. She loves helping students grow in confidence and celebrating their successes, big and small.

Outside the classroom, Miss Delany is known for her enthusiasm, infectious good-vibe energy and warm, friendly nature. She’s always the first to get involved in school events, embraces every opportunity to join in the fun, and helps make Clarinda such a positive and vibrant place to learn and work.

We’re so lucky to have Miss Delany as part of the Clarinda Primary School family! 💙❤️
