💛 Book Week & Mason Day 💛

Today was a very special day at CPS.

We took our Book Week parade down the main street, proudly showing off our incredible costumes. It was so lovely to see so many members of our community out to wave, smile and say hello. 📚✨

Today was also about remembering our friend, Mason. 💛 There was plenty of yellow, and lots of Toy Story characters, as we celebrated and remembered him in a way that felt very fitting for Mason. 💛

There are many more pics to come.

🎼 SYMPHONY OF STORIES

On Day 3 & 4 of Book Week our musicians got busy making music in the yard and taking photos. From Twinkle Twinkle, to Baby Shark renditions, it’s been a great time!

Tomorrow we take to the streets in costume and enjoy our final piece in our “Symphony of Stories!”

🎼SYMPHONY OF STORIES

On Day 2 of Book Week, Miss Cook and her Media Crew took to the playground to find out more about children (and adults) favourite books!

Hope you’re inspired to read something great!

🐯MID YEAR MONDAY - ‘T' FOR TIGER:

Last week, we were busy learning our new grapheme ‘t’ and its phoneme /t/! Our official prompt word for this sound is “tap”, which we have been using to help us remember and practise the /t/ sound. But of course, we couldn’t learn ‘t’ without having a little TIGER fun!

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed lots of hands-on activities to help them:
* Hear and recognise the /t/ sound in words
* Recognise the grapheme ‘t’
* Practise forming and writing ‘t’
* Think of words that begin with /t/
* Consolidate their learning through some fun tiger-themed activities!

The children are becoming more confident using our special literacy words phoneme (the sound we hear) and grapheme (the letter we see and write), too!

We have had a terrific time learning this one!

🎼SYMPHONY OF STORIES:
On Day 1 of Book Week, we engaged in "What's that Book?" In the library at lunch time we had 20 books we had to guess the title of from a small piece of the cover. It was a well loved activity!
Can't wait for what's next!

🎼FESTIVAL OF MUSIC REHEARSAL DAY!
On Thursday, 20 August, 20 members of the Clare Primary School Choir travelled to Adelaide for a rehearsal day, joining 1,300 other students from across South Australia. Together, we practised all twelve songs from our repertoire alongside the 80-piece orchestra.
Our two Junk Band orchestra members, Kas Brimfield and Laura Sandow, had the opportunity to showcase the drumming skills they have been developing over the past several months. Both Laura and Kasual are among 70 students selected to perform in the spectacular opening number, “Sing”, at the series of four concerts being held in three weeks’ time at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
It was an absolute joy to see our choir members singing with passion and enthusiasm, fully engaging with the choreography and dance moves. We can all be very proud of how they represented Clare Primary School—giving 100% in performance mode.
Now, with just three weeks to go, we look forward to fine-tuning our skills and perfecting our dance moves. Well done, Team Clare—you rock!

🏃🏼 SAPSASA ATHLETICS CARNIVAL **CANCELLED**

Unfortunately tomorrow’s Mid North SAPSASA Athletics carnival at Saddleworth has been cancelled due to the wet weather forecast and oval conditions.

This means it will now be a normal school day for all students that were going to the carnival.

We will keep families updated with information in regard to lunch order and Sapsasa levy payments.

🌈 MID YEAR MONDAY:

Our Phonics Learning Has Begun!

Last week, our Mid-Year Receptions officially started their phonics program! Each week, the children will be introduced to a new letter and sound in sequence, following the Department for Education Literacy Guarantee Unit (LGU) program.

Throughout the week, the children will participate in lots of fun, hands-on activities to help them:
• recognise the letter S/s
• hear and identify the /s/ sound in words 👂
• practise forming and writing S/s ✏️
• build their confidence connecting sounds with letters

We are so excited to begin building these important early reading and writing skills together!

Here are some of the children’s very first attempts at writing the letter S/s. We are so proud of their efforts and can’t wait to watch their confidence and skills grow each week!
