💜 Sista Speak 💜

Today we recommenced SISTA SPEAK for 2026! We reflected on the goals we set at the beginning of the year and celebrated the ones we had achieved. We talked about how accomplishing our goals made us feel before setting ourselves a short-term goal to work towards over the next five weeks.

Using our yarning cards, we shared stories about times we had been brave, places we had travelled and something we were looking forward to over the next few days.

It was wonderful to see the girls being so open and honest, sharing their thoughts, identifying areas they wanted to work on and encouraging one another along the way. There was so much positive talk this afternoon, and it was fantastic to see the girls feeling comfortable enough to share and be vulnerable with one another. 💜

Aunty Margaret also joined our conversation and shared something fascinating she had learnt while travelling about witchetty grubs and how they develop into large black moths. This was something none of us knew, so we all walked away having learnt something new! 🐛🦋

We then got creative with puffy paints, designing our own little zippered bags. The bags could be used for makeup, phones or even as a pencil case. The girls absolutely love being creative, so it was wonderful to see their unique designs and how they drew inspiration from the many art lessons they have enjoyed with Aunty Margaret. 🎨💜

Another beautiful afternoon filled with connection, culture, creativity, learning and plenty of positive conversations.

Growing together, learning together and celebrating the amazing young women we are becoming. 💜

💚💚💚💚CEREBRAL PALSY DAY at CNPS💚💚💚
It was fabulous to see everyone dressed in GREEN today. All students enjoyed learning more about CP, and classes wrote ways they could support people living with CP. What a fabulous day!

Online gaming can be a great way for children and young people to connect, learn and have fun 🧒🎮

But like any online space, gaming also comes with risks including unwanted contact, scams, harmful behaviour, in game purchases and privacy concerns.

eSafety recently published a report that examines the measures Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft and Steam have in place to protect users from serious online harms. Our findings show that while some platforms have introduced positive safety updates, approaches to preventing exposure to serious harm remain inconsistent.

Because safety protections vary across platforms, parents and carers play a critical role in helping children navigate online gaming safely and positively.

Regular, age-appropriate chats about what’s happening online, rather than one or two big talks, gradually build trust and help your child speak up early if they have questions or worries 💬🤝

Our gaming guidance for parents and carers includes practical advice and conversation starters to help you understand your child's gaming experiences and keep the dialogue going: https://news.esafety.gov.au/4cbH9KT

We're finding a better balance between technology and learning.

From Term 1, 2027, NSW public schools will introduce age-based limits on student screen use in the classroom.

The new guidelines will:
• limit daily screen use from preschool through to Year 12
• recommend at least 1 hour a day of learning with pen and paper
• reduce reliance on screens as the default way of learning
• keep digital literacy as part of the curriculum.

The goal is to help students stay focused, strengthen reading, writing and maths skills, and create a healthier balance between technology and learning.
