With the Rio Olympics officially over, it was filled with many heart stopping moments, new world records and cemented legacies for some athletes. But who cannot look back to these olympics and not think about the Pacific Islands with the internet sensation Tongan Flag bearer Pita Taufatofua, to the humble Fijians winning Fiji's first ever Gold medal. If anything our Pasifika athletes have put the Pacific islands on the map, even though it's barely visible on the world map, people are getting there magnifying glasses to take a careful look 😂

Hi everyone!

UTS: University of Technology Sydney has donated 600 desks and chairs from the soon-to-be-demolished Building 2 to the Cook Islands to help the kids there get a better education.

The Cook Islands community here in Sydney is now raising funds to ship them to primary and secondary schools there. They have a crowd-sourced fundraising website – and would love your help! Even a few dollars, multiplied by thousands adds up.

This may be just a snapshot of an island in the Pacific, but it speaks volume in terms of what is happening on a global level. This photo captures there story of the Pacific Islands, a proud group of nations abundantly coloured with culture and traditions. If we continue on this path the Pacific Islands will no longer be what is, but what was; slowly sinking out of existence, no longer seen only remembered.
