❌Not another Valentine’s Day post ❌
Today, marks such a deeply layered element within all of us.
We all want to feel loved, like we belong & safe to be open to that love.
That isn’t always easy.
Being vulnerable, to share a gift or card or meaningful item, is such a huge step into unknown.
Will it be received?
Will I be received?
Will they love me?
Will they see me…?
For some, that risk is crippling.
For others, not receiving anything is also deeply painful. It can also feel like a rejection…the silent unspoken confirmation in your own mind of your shadows.
“I’m not enough”
“I’m too much”
“I will always be alone”
“I’m not loveable”
Or…”they don’t care”.
What if, we stepped into this day with COMPASSION.
And held space & offered safety for their love, however that is presented.
It’s not about the gift. It’s not about the “getting it right”.
It’s about being honest, about what it means to you; ACTUALLY means. It’s about acknowledging the thing that you actually want (to feel connected, appreciated, seen…) and recognising the struggle that’s happening OUTSIDE OF YOU, in them.
Then, maybe then, we can get past the flowers, the chocolates, the fancy dinner & get the greatest gift of all.
Connection ❤️
