What a special evening it was, gathering on Djaara country to celebrate our annual lantern walk, and raising funds for our little school.

The students have been working so hard on their beautiful lanterns this term, and were able to showcase them under a clear and starry sky. We’re so grateful for our wonderful teachers, students and parent community for the art, the soup, the cakes, the warm fire, the songs and the great company.
Until next year! 🏮 🌙 ✨

Year 5/6 have been mushroom obsessed this winter. So much so their teacher Kirra especially created an inquiry topic on the fascinating world of organisms and ecosystems—which included lots of fungi exploration.

A highlight last week was harvesting, cooking and tasting the oyster mushrooms they grew in the classroom. Almost everyone agreed they were delicious!

On a cold, rainy but beautiful early June day, local primary schools (and even one all the way from Reservoir!) braved the elements and joined with the broader community on the Leanganook Walking Track on Djaara Country for this year’s Reconciliation Walk.

We were so happy to be joined by Uncle Rick this year, and grateful as always to Nalderun Education Aboriginal Corporation to gather at Me-Mandook Galk.

A huge thank you to our teachers and students for the incredible learning around Barramul, Night Sky Country, 8Ways pedagogy and the stories of young First Nations leaders.

Join us on the Leanganook Walking Track to reflect on Reconciliation, anti-racism, and the connection between past, present and future.

Along the way, discover storyboards, video teachings and reflections on Voice, Treaty, Yoorook, the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and the deep connection between Barramul and the Djaara people. We honour the young First Nations leaders who carry these stories forward. We finish at Me Mandook Galk with a commitment to be a voice for positive change in our community.

Come walk with us. 🖤💛❤️

It's a good day for some slow time, and if you've just finished listening to live this morning, you can catch up on last week's episode where our very own Chewton PS kids talk soil. They cover the importance of good PH, compost, important bugs you may not have heard of, like springtails, and lots in between. 🐛 👩‍🌾 https://www.mixcloud.com/.../dig-it-season-6-session-15.../ See less
