Instilling a love of reading books has many benefits. It makes you more likely to excel at school!
According to a recent international study, the more books you own at home, your achievements in maths and science are high.
This Data Viz Friday, ahead of the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book Week (17-23 October), we look at the link between books in the home and student achievement.
There's an obvious positive correlation between the two factors: high proportions of students excelling in maths and science in Years 4 and 8 report having 'many books' (more than 200) in the home. So let's get our students reading!
This year's Book Week theme is 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds' and there are resources, reading recommendations, free resources and more on the CBCA site: https://www.cbca.org.au/cbca-book-week

First online class today! For the last few weeks, I have been trialling out different online platforms for teaching: Google classrooms, Google hangouts, Skype, and Zoom.
Today my Year 6 Selective Class successfully ran out first Zoom class. The class was meant to be 2 hours, but instead, we went for a total of 3 hours!
Despite a lot of technical setbacks, we got through all the work today and most importantly, the kids enjoyed it and are continuing their education.
Families and Friends - Over the next few weeks if you are homeschooling/remotely/digitally educating your children and you need assistance with understanding something that has been assigned for your child please get in touch. (Even if this is by choice as schools presently remain open).
I’d be happy to answer questions, support where I can and also point you in the direction of a few free digital resources that may be helpful. We WILL get through this!
❤️ Whatever we can do ❤️
