To our Cherbourg families - Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council advise there will be more water interruptions in community tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd September) from 11am to 1pm

💧 IMPORTANT COMMUNITY WATER NOTICE – WEDNESDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER (Loss of water supply during works - please fill and store some water for use during interruptions)
Cherbourg residents are advised that two of the three main water supply lines into community will be temporarily shut down between approximately 11:00am and 1:00pm this coming WEDNESDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER as part of scheduled works.

During this period, only one main will be supplying Cherbourg and some homes may experience reduced water pressure or a temporary loss of water supply.

We ask residents to please:

Fill a few containers with water before 11:00am for drinking and essential household use.
Conserve water as much as possible during the works.
Be aware that when full supply is restored, there may be some air in the water lines. If your taps splutter or release air, simply let the water run for a short time until the flow returns to normal.

Our Operations team will be working to complete the works and restore normal supply as quickly as possible.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while this important work is carried out.

😴 EVERYONE MUCK IN — IT’S NAP TIME!
After a busy morning of playing, exploring and learning, there comes a very important part of the Gundoo day…

Nap time! 💤

But before anyone can settle down, the beds have to be ready — and apparently Aunty Leanne has plenty of little helpers for that job! 😂

Carrying the beds, pulling out the sheets and helping get everything into place — our jarjums are very happy to muck in and lend a hand.

It might look like a simple everyday job, but there’s learning happening here too. Our little ones are learning to help each other, follow familiar routines and take some responsibility for their own space.

And judging by these photos, some are taking their new job very seriously! 💚

Good work, little helpers.

Now… beds are made.

Who’s actually going to sleep? 😂💤

🧸 WHO EMPTIED THE TOYBOX? 😂
Hmmm… looks like someone has been busy at Gundoo!

Cars, trucks, trains, building pieces, rattles… we reckon half the toybox might have made its way outside! 😄

And why choose just one toy when you can have a go at ALL of them?

Our little ones were happy to muck in together, exploring, sharing, swapping toys and seeing what they could find next.

There’s plenty happening when our jarjums play together like this — little conversations, watching what their friends are doing, making choices and learning how to share the space.

But mostly…

they’re just having a good old play! 💚

And sometimes that’s exactly what being little is all about.

👣 FOLLOW THE LEADER!
“Watch me, Aunty Tania… I know what I’m doing!” 😎

There was plenty of confidence on display at Gundoo as our little ones took on the balancing course.

First, it was carefully up onto the beam…

Then one foot in front of the other…

A little more confidence…

And before long — “Look at me! I’ve got this!” 🙌😂

Of course, when one little learner shows everyone how it’s done, it doesn’t take long before someone else decides they can do it too!

There might have even been just a tiny bit of showing off for Aunty Tania. 😄💚

But underneath all the fun, our little ones are building balance, coordination, strength and confidence — while watching each other, having a go and learning together.

Sometimes the best encouragement is seeing your little mate do something and thinking…

“Yep. My turn!”

🟡 THROUGH THE HOOP WITH AUNTY NENE!
Sometimes you just need a little helping hand from Aunty. 💛

There was some serious concentration happening at Gundoo as our little one worked out how to get herself through the hula hoop — one foot at a time!

Aunty Nene was right there beside her, holding the hoop, offering some encouragement and helping when needed… but still giving her the chance to work it out for herself.

And she did it! 🙌

Something as simple as stepping through a hoop is doing plenty of work behind the scenes — developing balance, coordination, body awareness and confidence, while learning how to tackle a little challenge and keep going.

These are the beautiful everyday moments we love at Gundoo — our little ones learning and growing with people they know and trust right there beside them. 💚

Good job, Bubba — and good job Aunty Nene!

📝 BIG IDEAS AT THE GUNDOO BOARD MEETING
There appears to be some very serious business happening around the table at Gundoo… 🤔

Ideas are being shared, plans are being made and judging by all that concentration, there could be something pretty big in the works!

Meanwhile, one of our littlest thinkers has called in some extra help to get those important ideas down on paper. ✍️

Of course, what looks to us like a very important board meeting is actually another great example of learning through play.

Drawing and scribbling help our little ones develop the hand strength and fine motor skills they will eventually use for writing. Sitting together also gives them opportunities to watch each other, share space and materials, communicate and develop their own ideas.

And when an educator sits beside a child, takes an interest and encourages what they are doing, it tells them something important too:

Your ideas matter. 💚

We’re still waiting for the minutes from this particular meeting… but we suspect there are some very big plans being hatched! 😄

🚙 LET’S ROLL!
Ready… set… GO! 🚙💨

Our little learner has discovered that a toy car and a ramp make a pretty good combination!

Push it up, let it go, watch it roll… then grab it and have another go. 😄

Playing with cars and ramps gives our little ones a chance to explore movement, speed and cause and effect — learning what happens when we push something, let it go or change where we put it.

There’s also plenty of hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills happening as those little hands guide the car along.

At Gundoo, learning doesn’t always need to be complicated.

Sometimes all you need is a little car, a ramp and the curiosity to find out…

“What happens if I do this?” 💚

🔵 BUBBA’S HAVING A BALL! 🟡
There’s something very interesting going on here… 🤔

Pick up the ball. Find the hole. Drop it in.

Then… where did it go? 😄

Our Bubbas love exploring toys like this — working out what happens when they push, drop, roll and move things around.

It might look like simple play, but there’s plenty happening in that little head and those busy hands!

We’re practising our grip and hand-eye coordination, learning about cause and effect, solving little problems and, most importantly, having fun while we do it.

At Gundoo, even our littlest learners are busy discovering how the world works — one ball at a time. 💚

🙌 LOOK AT ME… I DID IT!
Sometimes the biggest adventures at Gundoo start with something as simple as a couple of blocks.

First, we have to work out how to get up there…

One foot here. Another foot there. Keep our balance… and up we go!

And then comes the best bit…

LOOK AT ME! 🙌

That little victory pose says it all. 😄

Climbing and balancing might look like simple play, but our little ones are building strength, coordination, balance and confidence — while learning to judge what their bodies can do.

And once one little person shows everyone how it’s done, you can be pretty sure someone else will want to have a go too!

At Gundoo, every little challenge conquered is something worth celebrating. 💚
