Friendship Square has a new website, and it is now LIVE.

One of our amazing parents parents and committee member has helped create and bring our vision to life.

Suy has done an exceptional job of building and co creating the website. We could not have done this without her skill and expertise. Suy is a parent to two children and works full time, we are beyond grateful that Suy donated her time, knowledge, skills and creative flare to our centre.

Let's all welcome our newest owners, Pauline & family, from Mornington, AUS to the We Rock family!! 🤟🏼❤️
My name is Pauline and I am so excited that my family and I are now part of the We Rock family and will be bringing We rock to the area I grew up in!
I have worked in Early Childhood Education for 36 years, and I am passionate about providing a positive environment for children to learn and thrive. I have had the opportunity to influence positive outcomes for both young children in Early Childhood settings, as well as adults by delivering training to students studying Certificate III, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have worked in the Local Government, Community Based and Private businesses. Throughout my career I have always taken an interest in supporting children and families with additional needs and recently, I have been working directly with several families providing one-on-one support for neurodiverse children in their Childcare, Kindergarten or home. A particular focal point has been on supporting the development of critical skills including language and communication, as well as developing the skills required to build positive social relationships. This led to me attending a We Rock Gym and I instantly knew this was something that I wanted to be a part of. It represents so many of the qualities that I have strived to embed in all that I have done. I am looking forward to providing a supporting environment that can make a difference.
I have been married to Darren for 32 years and together we have one child, Caeleigh, who is 25 years old and is currently studying at University. Caeleigh was born with a Limb Difference, missing her right arm from just below the elbow, and as a result, the family has alot of experience attending the Children's Hospital for prosthetic arm fittings, and learning how to navigate a world designed for people with two hands.
Pauline, Darren, & Caeleigh are looking forward to the journey ahead and bringing this amazing and inclusive space to their local community in the Mornington Peninsula.

Hello Neighbors,
We are pleased to share that Friendship Square Childcare and Kindergarten were successful in obtaining a significant DET VSBA Building Blocks Grant to Improve the Quality of the Outside Space at the centre.
We have engaged with Jenn Reed Urban Discovery Pty Ltd to create an Immersive Nature Play space with us, incorporating our teaching pedagogy and best practice philosophy. Please see more information about Jenn’s work at Home - Jenn Reed Design.
We plan to create sensory rich, fully immersive, therapeutic spaces which encourage children to deeply engage in active and passive play as they climb, fossick, get curious and rest.
They will take some risks, solve some problems and spend time with their friends in social play and time alone to investigate, explore and wonder.
The project will focus on connection with country, restoration and rejuvenation of the natural ecology systems with care for land and design practices including retention of existing canopy and installation of indigenous species central to our planning.
The project is estimated to commence the week of May 8TH and we anticipate construction continuing for 8 to 10 weeks. The construction phase of this project will provide our children a wonderful opportunity to watch and learn as their new spaces are created using a range of methods, machinery and equipment. Given the change to regular circumstances there will be some ‘out of the ordinary’ busyness for which, we have developed a risk management plan and will monitor through the project.

Nyree 10 year celebration !!

Nyree has been such a integral part of the friendship square center, The past 10 years Nyree has provided high quality care and education to HUNDREDS of children across the community with many she still keeps in touch with today.
Not only has Nyree be apart of this community for 10 years it is safe to say that the pure love for her job and the children is as strong today as it was when she first started 10 years ago.

Over the years and to the present day Nyree gives the children, families, her team and the community 110 percent for her self, her continued dedication, loyalty, contribution, knowledge, passion and skills towards education, respect and enthusiasm for indigenous culture and practices, influences for child safety, rights, respect and duty of care not to mention her relationships built on love, trust and compassion for all children, families and educators is one to be truly admired.
Nyree is all of this and so much more, there are not enough words to describe how truly amazing this woman is !!

Bush Kinder in Victoria, highlights that children who spend time outdoors and connect with the natural environment tend to be healthier, happier, stronger and have a greater respect for the environment.
Our first visit was about getting a sense for the space and environment, what the boundaries are and what possibilities we can see… they were endless ! After an acknowledgement of country, the children took a responsibility to care for the beautiful beach as we promise every morning.
After some self directed exploration and discovery, we set off on a walk. We found trees that had been curated for bird habitats by the local council, some children even reminding us that a "habitat is a home". We found a sculpture as a tribute to the Boon Wurrung and Bunurong people - the ‘Boon Wurrung Blossom’ by Ellen Jose, leading to conversations about Terra Nullius and reconciliation. We also engaged in discussion about the different ways indigenous people have used Coastal Banksia pine cones.
From trees and flowers to birds, animals, sticks, leaves and shells, nature has plenty of stimuli for children to explore, admire and have educational experiences with. Instilling this love and appreciation of nature from a young age can help create a generation who respect the planet and feel connected to the world around them.

Our Program goals include: Unstructured play in natural environments, Developing new and real-life skills - bush survival and bush craft skills, Embedding of Indigenous teachings & perspective, Learn early botany and biology, Establish early literacy and numeracy through storytelling and games, How to become custodians of the natural world through the development of their love of nature.
