💛 Autistic pride 💛

Being a proud Autistic music educator is something I take pride on, especially at Neighbourhood Tunes.

I love the space I have created for my piano students. It's cosy and comfortable. I love how I get engaged with my students that's also my special interests (SPins). It's everything to me.

It's just more than a piano studio. It's the value and benefits of being a neuro-affirming studio bring to the community, families, and students.

I still have spaces left for Term 2 (they are filling out quickly!) and our upcoming express program between April 13 and 17 that caters students from Year 5 and onwards (aged 10 and onwards), approximately AGMS Step 1, specifically, or with the knowledge of major and minor chord triads.

I ran my first ever garden piano party for my piano students!

It takes a lot of work to create a neuro-affirming piano concert/soiree. I'm thankful to be living in a space where the backyard is big enough to safely host an a piano concert (which in a neuro-affirming way would be a piano party).

It is always a dream come true for everybody to enjoy a piano party that is accessible and inclusive for all.

This time it is a Garden Piano Party on Piano Day, and it was a delight for my students, as well as myself, to play piano outdoors with nature and a connection to country.

Thank you, AGMS for this recognition award!

I thought it was only for my students who achieved either high distinction or distinction, and didn't expect a lovely surprise in the mail for myself!

I love using AGMS for my piano students as I can be flexible to meet my students' needs, as well as meeting my teaching values and philosophy.

Clara loves piano music and also these benches are her favourite places to sit.

Big bonus for my students as she jumps up on these benches for infinite cuddles or watching their lesson. 😅❤️

I love playing to her whenever she watches me practising. Pets are wholesome.

Today, I got to hear what MJ Music Training has to offer when teaching neurodivergent students, and wow, pretty good!

I personally LOVE lived experiences PD/PLs. It is a way to go when attending PD/PL sessions, days, or conferences.

Highly recommended to hear and learn what he has to say.

I also can't wait to form my alliance down in Melbourne, too, offering similar services for my colleagues and associates in the near future! 🥰

I'm so thrilled I got interviewed by Umbrella Support. It was so much fun and I hope prospective students and my current students love watching this interview. 🥰

Our latest episode is LIVE right now!
Meet Nicole who is a piano teacher.
We really enjoyed getting to know all about her job and why music is so important in our lives.

Happy new year at Dromana Drive-in! 🥳

We have evacuated safely as there was a bushfire shortly after the fireworks. I'll be hyperfixating about that event for a week. That was something. 😅

Hope you all have a festive and neuroaffirming period.

This early morning, I was performing for a christmas play, then I slowly headed to christmas lunch.

I guess you can say I'm a big fan of AGMS. 😅

A sincere congratulations to my young pianists achieving distinctions to high distinctions for their AGMS piano examinations. 🥳

At Neighbourhood Tunes, I treat examinations as a project or a presentation to provide students a sense of purpose in their learning journey.

AGMS provides a wonderful neuro-affirming, accessible, and inclusive opportunity, which aligns with my teaching values and pedagogy.

I have been training Clara like heck to become a lap cat. She now loves jumping up onto the benches where a parent, support worker, or their sibling sits and loves a pat and cuddle. Sometimes, she sits on the bench, keen to listen to my students' lessons, my practice, or just wanting to sit at a quiet spot. When there's no students or myself in the home studio, she loves sitting underneath the piano. She's definitely a music lover, like Clara Schumann!

Clara loves visiting my students and somehow was keen to receive cuddles from her mumma. 😅

She is a lovely teacher assistance at Neighbourhood Tunes.
